Emerac from DESK SET was also a major component of the laboratory in THE FLY movies at Fox.....and parts of her were even used as set dressing for the film and tv versions of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA.

Oh, dear. I had a negligent upbringing. I have never seen DESK SET, and indeed until today had never even heard of it.      :P

Temperature extremes - today, Canada is colder than Mars. Today in Australia, it reached 129 degrees F.

Good afternoon. I guess this would not be a good time to mention that it is 77 degrees F here, would it?

That does it!!  First the male hookers on 42nd Street, and now the horse-drawn carriages in Central Park.

What is happening to The City??

A 1776 reference...Letter Tied to Fight for Independence Is Found in Museum’s Attic (the bold section is my emphasis):

Quote
Until Ms. Gruchow found it, only the final, printed version from July 1775 had been known to exist. She consulted with Michael D. Hattem, a teaching fellow and research assistant on The Papers of Benjamin Franklin at Yale. He analyzed the handwriting on the yellowed pages of the manuscript and did textual analysis that led to an unexpected conclusion: The document was written by Robert R. Livingston, a prominent New York jurist who had been on the fence about whether to support independence for the colonies.

The following year, Congress tapped Livingston to draft the Declaration of Independence along with Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Roger Sherman.
Livingston went on to swear in Washington as the first president. Other historians who have reviewed the document Ms. Gruchow found say her discovery explains why he was chosen. It could also change the perception of Livingston’s role in the push for independence because it had always been assumed that the document at the mansion was the work of another prominent colonial figure, Richard Henry Lee of Virginia.

Days like this help me understand why my mother moved to Phoenix when she was not much older than I am now...

Very interesting DR GEORGE.

Oh DR SINGDAW you must see DESK SET....if only for the scene that DR JOHN G mentioned above....which also includes Katharine Hepburn's wonderful description of her experience while waiting for the Mexican Avenue Bus....

DESK SET is sounding better all the time.  I know people say it isn't the best of theirs, but I'm totally up for this.

The snow has begun in the DC area, but the weather people say we'll only get about 3 inches.

We have some light snow right now. I'll wait until tomorrow morning around 5 to see if we actually get the 6-10 inches forecast.

The drive in was a bit harrowing  just a dusting of snow but the wind was fierce and the asphalt was terribly slippery  we saw two  accidents on on way in where  4 or 5 cars were totalled and then on my way home I saw another three including a major one that closed down the LIE heading westbound  anf involved a large number of firetrucks and ambulances  fortunately I was heading east at the time

we got to the airport and  there were huge lines people trying to change their reservations to get out ahead of the storm but fortunately Vixter had her boarding pass in hand and no luggage to check so she bypassed all the lines and went straight to security with only a couple of people ahead of her

I headed homeward and since it was too early to go to work (and I knew if I went home I would fall back asleep)  I headed to the Panera down the road from my office for breakfast  on the way OI passed a grocery so stopped in to  to my legal duty and buy bread - I was negligent in  that I did not buy any  milk but since I already had a huge amount at home I hope the blizzard police will let me off with a warning

then off to Panera where I snagged the comfy chair  right in front of the fireplace and  treated myself to  steel cut oatmeal with pecans, strawberries and cinnamon  brown sugar topping  and then  just to be completely sure I had a good layer of fat to stave off the cold I had a mug of hot chocolate made with steamed milk, and topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce

I toodled off to the office at 8 and ran the jet blue flight tracker where I discovered that the Vixter's flight had been delayed by an hour but she was now on her way.

Glad to hear it, Vixmom. When I flew to El Paso last week, the security line was so long, I missed my flight even though I had gotten to the airport an hour before flight. All those holiday travelers.

I must say the flight tracker was a quite  relief to this Mom so I was able to see when she arrived safely at her gate since in her joy  at seeing teh BF she forgot to text her dear old Mom a until 2 hours after she landed

I have discovered if confronted with a long line and a short tiem to board  that if I go tot he head of the line and show them my boarding pass they let me go ahead

The work load is really scarily light at the moment  all of us on the office strived to get everything done for tomorrow and  Monday and succeeded

we  (well mostly me) explained to the boss that since 2 of us can remote in to our emails and there was nothing pressing that needed to be done tomorrow we had no intention of coming u in  if the weather is as bad a predicted

I live about 2 miles south of the LIE but rarely use it as I am now only 7 miles from work and can get there faster  by using back roads
