Thankfully, it is not a severe case. They're uncomfortable, but do not itch. She wants me to keep them bandaged, REST, and I'm not supposed to be out in public if I can help it. I have several things to take, as well. I stopped on the way home and purchased the necessary gauze, tape, and other supplies.

Jeanne, I am so sorry to read that it is shingles.  I have had several good friends who have had very severe cases.  My late friend, Stan, had it down one side of his face.  He was almost blinded in one eye.

Yes, it can be very serious. My doctor's recommendations are very comprehensive and I will comply as best I can with all of them. She said that some docs just prescribe a drug and that's it. We're doing much more. More work for me, but I'm happy to take this approach.

As I was leaving work today, I started to pull out into traffic when a car sped into my lane. I stopped, but the car behind me didn't. He or she ran into the back of my car. Thankfully, it was light and there was no damage. But the car just sped off as if nothing happened. Excuse me, but I work for a car insurance company. What kind of driving is that?

Is this crazy-driver day nationwide? Jrand, any input?

John, I'm glad there was no damage and you weren't hurt. Maybe a massage would be in order just the same.

BK the workshop sounds like it was great -

Why did you precast the Daisy Mae? Is it a student or a non student?

Daisy Mae is a pro actress - I knew they wouldn't have anyone there who could sing it

I'd rescheduled a hair appointment in order to see the doctor today. I called my hairdresser and asked if he'd had chickenpox. Fortunately, he had them when he was a kid. If he hadn't, I would have been putting him at risk and I didn't want to do that. So I'll see him tomorrow and make a quick stop for groceries afterwards.

But the people who have had chicken pox are the ones that get shingles, unless they have the vaccine.

If you haven't had chickenpox and are exposed to shingles, you get chickenpox. That's how I got mine a few years ago. I was staying at a friend's house when I first returned to LA. Said friend got shingles and I soon had chickenpox. I was reading just recently that vaccines are only 40% effective.

I am not familiar with the musical (although I used to read the strip regularly when I was a girl so I know who the characters are)  are there other substantial female roles? I can only think of Mammy Yoakum and Daisy Mae as the women in the strip

VIBES TO YOU DR JEANNE~~~~~~~

I had a very bad case of the chicken pox when I was a kid.  I want the shingles vaccine. My doctor didn't want to give it to me last time I asked because she thought I should wait until I'm a little older  I think I'll talk to the pharmacist.  They can also give the shots

I had a very good day at the office. We've gotten a number of new cases this week.  Tomorrow is a big day of consults and one court appearance.   It's going to be very very cold so I'm not sure if everyone will show up.  I've gone from relatively little work to do to having a ton to do.   It's a good thing, I'm not complaining.

Now I've got to go to bed.   It's -1 air temp right now, something like -20 windchill.  Going to get much colder than that tonight.  I'm thankful I have a nice warm house to be in

Apparently so  I passed more than a couple of cars this morning that looked like moving snow drifts -- idiot drivers cleared a little peek hole in the windshield and took off so of course  all the snow on their cars was blowing  onto the windshields of the cars behind them

Evidently, no one on HHW has Whatsapp on their phone. It must be for the young, only...which means I may never figure it out.

Thanks. My reading from the last few days says that shingles often occurs when we're run-down, getting cancer treatment, etc. Most of us carry the virus already.

GOOD LORD.  I'm out and about for the evening, and all HELL breaks loose here!

So much to respond to.  To do it right, I'd have to go back and read the last five pages again!  I just couldn't stop and post replies -- had to read on to see what in the HELL was going to happen next.

Suffice it to say...VIBES to ALL!  But certainly...especially...DRs vixmom, Jeanne, John G., and everyone else to whom anything happened, even if it was just a close call!
