Well, I have to get ready to usher again today.  Today, it's a tour of The Official Blues Brothers Revue.  It's unusual, but not unheard of, for a tour to have a Sunday night performance.  I don't know what the audience will be like, but I'm sure that the fans will be out in force.

I need to read!!!  I have two, technically 1 3/4th, books to read I have checked out from my library with another one expected very soon.

The rather long new Amy Tan book I put a hold on at Keith's library account has arrived, 147 books ahead of the hold on my account.  I didn't have any problems downloading it onto my Nook and best of all it shows up on my bookshelf with the books from my account.  My concern is that I would have to switch back and forth.

Since all went well I put holds on both "Divergent" and "Divergent series 2 book collection (books 1 & 2).  Since the 2 book collection is newer with far fewer holds I expect it will arrive first.  The single book has 356 holds with 25 copies.  The 2 book series has 175 holds with only 13 copies, however, it says my library might be faster which usually means my library is faster so I'm hoping it is the case here.

Before ushering, I have to stop at my sister's before the show to give her a DVD, Chely Wright: Wish Me Away.  She's a country singer and probably the first to come out as gay.  Up until she came out, she was very popular but then was practically shunned by the country music industry afterward.  She performed with the Seattle Women's Chorus a couple of years ago and my niece and I saw the concert.  Anyway, my sister and my niece told Steve Schalchlin about her and the documentary (they're both on the board of Olympia's PFLAG, so they got to meet him on Friday) and my sister would like to give him the DVD.  She said that she'll order me a new copy.  That way they can give him the copy now.

Letters of agreement went out to eight of the ten NYC actors for the ROBERTA sessions. We've got to hire two basses who can sing a low F. One of the two we wanted is in the new LES MIZ and can't do it, and I forget why Rob's other choice is out of the running, We're seeing one possibility tomorrow afternoon.

I'm thinking I may contact a Facebook friend who sings with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players.

I just opened an envelope from my friend Charlie Harmon, who's been cleaning up the estate of my friend Dale Kugel who died in late November, and a financial gift from Dale landed in my lap. It was completely unexpected, but it will clear all of my financial obligations of December and January and leave me a small amount to help me get through February.

Larry, my condolences on the loss of your friend, but congrats on the financial gift!

Agree with those sentiments!

Had a cup of chili and a ham and Swiss on rye, then some tapioca pudding for dessert.  I then had to meet someone in Reseda to pick up something, now I'm back and will write another page or two, after which, break number two.

Let's have some Grammy postings - although I already know what cast album one - there was no question which it would be.

I think k.d. lang preceded her in that department.

Just watched Jules Dassin's BRUTE FORCE.  Wonderful, with a good intense Rozsa score.  I'm going to run through the other Dassins I've got here (I think they're just the ones Criterion has issued), leading up to RIFIFI which the world is raving about but I've somehow never seen.

Well, the high school did an admirable job with "Bonnie and Clyde." The show isn't a work of art. It's easy to see why it flopped. But the production was quite good, with plenty of visual effects, projections and film clips adding to the production values.

The biggest problem, beyond the problems in the material itself, was that the Clyde was not strong enough to handle the part. By the end of each act, his voice was frayed and not pleasant to listen to. There's a duet in the first act in which he and the other man in love with Bonnie sing of their love. Sadly, neither voice was up to the task, so listening to them was painful. On top of that, the three violins sounded like cats caught in lawn mowers. Ugh.

I haven't watched, or cared to watch, the Grammys even though i'm a voter.  The categories that interest me aren't those of the viewing public, so fuckem.  I watched Downton Abbey, and now I'm going to bed. I did accomplish much on the tax front.

I have many things to accomplish tomorrow. Like find a bass, go to therapy, hit the bank, mail some bills, and then come home and work on my taxes.

I had a ticket to Hello Dolly tonight, but the wind is howling at about 49 mph with gusts higher.  We don't have any snow to blow around, but we've also gone from 52 degrees to 10 degrees and that's the air temp.  I wasn't curious enough about Sally Struthers to go out in this stuff
