Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

So, SlopJar, what did you think of Thoroughly Modern Millie? Did you ever post your review?

I'm watching the stage version and enjoying it more than I thought. It's not as campy as the movie, but there are some fun performances and the dancing is great.

Excited - just got a ticket to a concert of West Side Story. They'll show the film, which will be accompanied LIVE by the Minnesota Orchestra. I guess the conductor will use some kind of click track system to stay in synch with the film.

This is getting a lot of showings; the whole thing sounds pretty weird to me!

When I first heard about it a few years ago I found it interesting, just as a means of hearing what that orchestration would sound like played live.  Then the more I learned about it, the more bizarre the whole thing seemed, and I stopped caring.  But I'd still love the chance to see/hear a couple of moments of it just...to know.

And I would kill to see that film score.  As I recall, all scores and parts were declared lost until someone unearthed the condensed score in Johnny Green's collection, and they more or less reconstructed it from that.

DR cillaliz, your brother has "cases"; is he also an attorney?  You've probably told us and i've forgotten. I can remember details about trips to Appalachia in 1954, but I have no memory of what I did yesterday.

He is an attorney and a magistrate judge

DR CILLA LIZ got some nice furniture.....I scored five nice chairs last fall when the insurance company in the strip mall was moving....they left them out by the dumpster, so I grabbed them for the store....nice.

It has been my experience - if you live in a college town - that driving on the campus around graduation and the end of year, you can find lots of nice chairs and desks out on the street.....

I also got 635 reporters and some bound law reviews.  I moved 325 of the books today and will move the others tomorrow.   Now my library really looks like a law library.   My brother took three really nice chairs I had but didn't go that well with the decor of my office - it's a different color scheme from the last office I had.   I am very happy about that

I found it a little bit bizarre, but madcap and fun - loved Julie's asides to the camera. I did not figure out the plot twist revealed at the end, but it did make MTM's performance make more sense in retrospect. And of course the music and singing were lovely.

Afterward, Margo and I went to McMenamins Spar Café.  I had their Red Rooster Sirloin Burger ("ground sirloin mixed with Sriracha, hoisin sauce, scallions & ginger with chili-roasted garlic mayo & your side of choice"...I had their Cajun Tots with peppercorn ranch).  It was delish!

I love their menu!

Topic of the Day:  I don't know if I would call this a "favorite," but my sister and I had this exact book and record of "Little Brave Sambo."  Watching the YouTube video just now (click on the link), I found that I remembered the melodies to a couple of the songs.

Your clip, Cillaliz, led to this discovery from the 1987 Tonys, back when they knew how to entertain an audience of people who really loved the theater. And Angela seems to be vying with Bernadette on who can show the most decolletage:

Oy and vey.  Futzed and finessed but only got one page done.  Then I had a meatless Cobb Salad, a bagel and some tap tap tapioca pudding, which I have to say I'm obsessed with.

Then I picked up one package, then came home.  I had to answer a ton of e-mails and print out orders.  I wrote three more pages and then had to get ready for rehearsals.

The first Kritzerland rehearsal was a little rough for my tastes, mostly due to the musical direction, not the actors.  A lot of what we did at our work session wasn't in evidence, so I spent a lot of unnecessary time dealing with that - but I'd made sure everything had been written down and I kept being told that somehow it hadn't - then I'd walk over and look at the music and find the notation, which was ALWAYS there.  Drives me a little batty, but that's not a long drive, and the musicianship, in the end, is wonderful and that's all that counts.  But it put us behind the entire day.

I didn't even get to sit back down until after seven-thirty, but I couldn't write because my head wasn't in that place.  I relaxed and answered e-mails and printed orders, then around eight I started writing again and did two more pages, so about six so far and I'll go for at least two more before the end of the evening.
