DR Ginny, what was the evening report for Dexter?

Perry went to visit this morning and was quite encouraged.  Dexter might get to come home tomorrow.  Maple and Piper will be very glad.

Perry was very grateful for the HHW vibes.

My new printer arrived today! I've just about finished my tax tallies, and then I can set it up.  This is too exciting.  Next purchase: a new CD player.  Soon.

Glad to hear you were able to get this - doesn't your BR also play cds?

Usually the Florida rains  hit hard for a short time and then goes away and the sun comes back   but it was rainy all day everyday - the only nice day was Tuesday.

Since the weather station insisted Tuesday would be cold and rainy while Wed Thursday and Friday were forecast to be warm and sunny we slept in and then ended up just wandering around the Disney Downtown area for a little bit -  of course it poured rain the next three days

the one thing we wanted to do this trip was the launch pad tour at NASA at the Kennedy Space Center  - Tuesday would have been perfect-  we ended up not being able to take the tour  and it may never be available again -  it never was before and it is being ended in February

Channel 13 news and weather in Central Florida  never got the weather right once all week

ah well

well time to get some sleep  - another 600 mile to drive tomorrow and we must drive towards and then right past the NJ stadium where the Superbowl is happening so traffic should be horrendous

Went out for pizza tonight at a new place. Very good Italian-style pizza. Perfectly thin crust with plenty of crunch to it. One pie was like a deconstructed muffaletta, even with the olive salad on it. The other was clams casino with the bacon. Yum.

Having celiac disease for the past 11 years, I can no longer enjoy "regular" pizza, so I'm living vicariously via your description of what sounds like a wonderful meal.  Mmmm, bacon.

I'm diabetic and shouldn't eat the carbs, either. But I did check out a paleo book from the library today with a gluten-free pizza crust that looked good to me. I may give it a whirl in the next week or so. Will report back.

Who's the cutie cat in your arms, DR Dan M?

My cat is Minny The Cat and he turns 5 this year.  In a bit of synchronicity, my friends in Arizona had just gotten him the month before I arrived here from NY in 2009.  They had already named him "Mini" because he was so small (he is now around 20 pounds), but they did not know that he would "adopt" me as his person and that my late Mom's name was Minnie.  Minny The Cat-- I say now that he was named after Minny Minoso the baseball player-- is more dog than cat sometimes because he follows me around like a puppy.  He is a unique cat (not sure what kind he is) as you can't hear any purring, but you can "feel" the purring if you place your hand just under his jawline.  Even without the audible purring, he does like to "talk" to me and tries to get me to follow him.  I had never had a cat before I moved out here and now I can't imagine being without one.

Where the #$%^ did the phrase "easy peasy" come from?  I have heard it used in three different TV commercials tonight on TV.

Finally back home after an incredibly long and occasionally tense day.  Can't say the session was a walk in the park, due to some really idiotic scheduling problems I just didn't catch in time to do anything about - had I, I would have moved four numbers in tomorrow's session.  Not worth going into but boy it's the last time I let a musical director schedule.

During lunch we were discussing the plan for us to go over to Perry's to watch the Super Bowl tomorrow.  He made a special request for some sandwiches that he remembers my Mom making when he was a kid - shredded sharp cheddar cheese, chili sauce, and chopped black olives in hot dog buns.  You wrap them by twos in foil and heat right before serving.  We stopped on the way back and I bought the ingredients.  There are now 14 "Stuffed Sandwiches" chilling in the fridge at Perry's.

Mom will be pleased.

Yummmm!  Those sound good.

Good morning, all!  I slept in and I am now out of bed, hoping to finish the taxes today.  I had a couple of very strange dreams, one of which reunited me with the cabaret act I was in-between 1980 and 1982.

Today is also the 155th birthday of the great Victor Herbert: operetta, opera, revue, musical comedy, music hall, concert platform, salon; he wrote for them all.

Welcome, DR DonaldM!

I require more coffee.

A Very Happy (slightly belated) 155th Birthday to Victor Herbert! ;D

Yesterday I broke down and got a new Microsoft Surface 2.  I've been setting it up and learning how to use it.  It has microsoft office RT in it at no extra charge.   With that I can use it for work and the documents won't have any formatting problems.   I also really like the lighted plastic keyboard that attaches magnetically.

Seriously, I had no way to Skype at the office and needed something I could use for that.  And it's a lot lighter to take back and forth to the office.   It also has a usb port, which is nice.   I've never had a tablet, other than my nook, which is really a reader. So I'm very excited about it.   It will take some getting used to
