Just got back to the home environment and missed the interview. Sounds like it was faboo.

JRand - Nichols and May are my faves, too. But I didn't think of listing them because they don't pop into my head as a movie or even TV team (although they did lots of TV). But yes, NICHOLS AND MAY!

DR Ben - There's a candy store chain in Memphis called Dinstuhl's, and one of their specialties are chocolate-covered grapes.  Quite dee-lish!!!  -They also make chocolate-covered strawberries and raspberries in season.  -And the totally cover the fruit in the chocolate!!  *And they're Cashew Crunch is quite amazing and addictive too!

I spent another leisurely afternoon at my friend's pool with intermittant sun and clouds which made lying out nice. It was also not humid today which made times in the shade of clouds particularly pleasant.

Being gone from home for lunch and pool afternoon meant no DVDs have as yet been watched today. But I should be able to get to THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE tonight before CSI.

One word for Jose and JRand on their Birthday:

VIAGRA!

der Brucer

 ::)

Umm... Well... Uhh... Ya' know... Umm..

 :-\

For some reason, the phrase, "Speak for yourself, John," comes to mind right now.

Ah - lunch time!

Liverwurst and mashed potato chips on toasted rye - really good. Thank you Dan :)

der Brucer (thinking of the years of loss - tossing out chip bags because only fragments were left)

There's always a "use" for those "chippettes" at the bottom of the bag!  Stir them into soup, chili, stew, etc.  Or just add an extra crunch to any type of sandwich!

We won't have to worry about the dreaded ATL tonight! I think the birthday boys have made it a festive day around these here parts.

In honor of the birthday boys.... I found my diamond earring!!
Thanks, guys! Good thing, too. I priced a similar pair of earrings -- $700. -- at 50% off. So then I looked at some cheap imitations - And guess what? --They looked like cheap imitations. So I told myself to just forget about it. Which is when I looked down at the carpet and saw something shining up at me. I love happy endings.

Der Brucer used to look at me oddly when I put black pepper on my cantalope.  (It's a taste I learned from my grandfather.)

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boys!

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boys!

Hmmm... Sounds good to me!  Kind of the like the first time I actually tried prosciutto wrapped around honeydew melon, I guess.

And then there's salting your watermelon...

TCB?  Where are you?

Cool Beans!  So I guess this means that JRand and I should be expecting a nice "reward check" - a finders' fee of sorts -  sometime soon!!  What a Birthday!!!

So what are the birthday boys doing for their birthdays?

Well, speaking for myself...

So far, I let myself sleep in - actually, I ended up sleeping in later than I thought/planned.  But, no harm done.  Then I had breakfast.  Then I did some laundry - one must have clean clothes for the show tonight!  Watched some TV - love my CBS soaps!  And I'm about to have lunch!

Exciting, huh?

Well, actually, it has been a very nice day.  I've received a couple of birthday phone calls and e-mails from various friends from various parts of the world.  And there was even a Happy Birthday banner that "greeted" me this morning in the kitchen!

-Oh, and I also just ironed a bunch of clothes!  -And, strangely enough, I like ironing.   Go figure.

I also found out late last night that my brother, Jay - not DR Stuart's brother, DR Jay - might be able to come see the show tonight.  He's up here in L.A. for a meeting and going away party for one of his past co-workers.  If he can't make it to the show, then he's at least planning on meeting me after the show.  -Now if  he can just get all my San Diego relatives "in order" so that they can finally make definite plans to come up and see What If?

Can't really comment on Ding Dongs or whatever - unknown here in OZ.

Do remember the McGuire sisters with "Ding Dong" and Freddy & the Bellboys with "Giddy Up a Ding Dong"

Guess you need to be older than both birthday boys to remember those. (Not adding the ages though!)

To all DR readers who were pregnant did you ever have pickles and ice cream or was that just a invention of a comedy writer?

I had pickles and I had ice cream but never ever together-gross. ;D

I've never had a Ding Dong ot a Twinkie or a Krispie Kreme. I'm culturally deprived (a partial West Side Story reference).

I've had today's dose of Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream over one solitary Ding Dong.  Quite yummilicious, but I must be getting ready to be over this particular kick because every time I type Swiss it comes out Swill.

I'm trying to figure out a way for DD to meet Hungary's greatest living poet, a Nobel prize nominee and incredible human being. I knew him when he lived in Toronto for a number of years and he actually met DD as a baby. Eventually he was invited back to Hungary (where he had been jailed under two different regimes and where you could be arrested for reading his books). He returned with his male companion, then met a young woman, Fanny, said au revoir to the his friend, and married her. He's in his lated 80's. She's in her late twenties, I believe. Anyway, I think Rachel should meet him. Unfortunately, he doesn't answer "the machine" (phone to mere mortals). I have his address. So perhaps she should send him a note and suggest a visit. It's one of those things movies or short stories are made of.
