I am surprised that no letters to the editor have appeared in the Forum. I will continue to watch as it has only been a week.

Very surprising.  Please let us know if any do appear.

DR George I was exhausted reading your Star Wars saga. :D  It might be interesting to watch them in chronological order.

Don't...too many spoilers...and not in a good way...unless you've already seen them all.  However, if you've never seen any of them, I would recommend watching them at least in the order that they were filmed and released.  But watching Episode VI (RotJ) last is a great ending to the whole series.

I'm sorry I meant chronological as in the time frame of the story, not when they were released.  I still remember the excitement I felt as the first Star Wars began.

I know you meant "chronological as in the time frame of the story," but if one has NEVER seen any of the movies, I feel that they should not be watched in chronological order, in my humble opinion (IMHO, in Internet lingo). :)

However, if one has seen all the movies, watch them any way you want...backwards for all I care. ;)

I agree, one should always begin with the original. :)

I could never get into Star Wars. It is well made and a good story but it is not my cup of tea.

Off the top of my head:   "No Moon", "The Blame", and "The Proposal / The Night Was Alive" are my favorites.  I do like a few sections of the opening, and some other moments, but I'd have to look it all over to come up with specifics.

EDIT:  And pretty much the entire orchestration.

The potential Abner was excellent - we're going to ask him to do it, but he is going to have to make a solid commitment - he does occasional film and TV and I don't want that being hung over my head during this production.  It's a really short commitment, though, just three-and-a-half weeks start to finish.

I like Billie Hayes's performance in the movie as Mammy Yokum.  Can't forget Stubby Kaye!

TOD: I would say my most memorable Valentine's Day was the one where DR Sandra and I were in a bar in Palm Springs (after one of Jason Graae's shows) with DR Kerry, Jason, and his fella, and Sandra and I were were outed as lesbian lovers by a group of drunks.

TOD - our best Valentine's Day was 29 years ago when I had a prenatal ultrasound and we heard AND saw DS Rob's heartbeat.

And on that note (F#), I'm off to my sister's.  She has some (one?) keychains for me!  And I have the Star Wars trilogy for her.

Be back later!

Some good news today...

Have an interview at Valley City STate. Drawback is distance.. it is 55 miles from FArgo.

I am still applying for some other jobs and I have a few more apps out there.

Congrats and good luck on the interview!  And Yikes...55 miles is a LONG way to commute.

Many vibes for a successful interview. I listened to a great many books when I had a commute slightly longer than that.

Came home today to discover that the mailman had brought a CD that I've wanted for some time: Percy Faith's recording of Subways Are for Sleeping and Do I Hear a Waltz? I delayed buying it from Amazon for so long that it went out of print. Then the first couple of used copies I tried buying online were never mailed out. Go figure.

Anyway, I had Waltz on vinyl when I was a teenager. Loved it. And now to hear it again after 30 plus years is just a reminder of why this really is my favorite Richard Rodgers score.

Found my invoices for a piece on Asian noodle bowls that I did for Texas Monthly. Now, if I knew how to submit them, I might have a little money coming back to me.

My favorite orchestration in the score is the reprise of "The Other Side of the Tracks."

And I just discovered another mouse in the traps. That's two in two days.  I am not amused.

I also loved Little Me.  Some of the people on those message boards were critical of the leads but I thought Rachel York and Christian Bale were great!  And Judy Kaye just makes me laugh whenever she opens her mouth.

Not to mention the fantastic orchestra!

Some of the foolish comments about Borle really pissed me off: he had a week - one week - of rehearsal, not 4-6 weeks to polish a performance. If he were that good after a week of rehearsal and tech, think how amazing he'd be in a full-scale revival.  I thought he was really funny.

And I am home from physical therapy. On th bus home, I sat across from a Caribbean nanny who was feeding this little tiny boy a bagel. The kid was adorable and she was so wonderful with him. I wanted to run over and paste a gold star on her forehead.

This made me smile
