Well, you've read the notes, the notes brought back the snood, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently wearing a sMOOd.

I've been in several shows set in the 1940s and the women wore snoods.  The actresses also used to draw lines on the backs of their legs with eyebrow pencils to simulate the seam in stockings, since the stocking aren't made that way anymore.

I have never had hair long enough to entertain wearing a snood.

I have never tried tap tap tapioca pudding. I have heard of it, of course.

DR GEORGE if ever you are in such a play again.....we have learned to make  our own seamed hosiery....

Pantyhose......light heat iron.....make a crease where you want the seam.....use a sewing machine on stretch stitch and a ballpoint needle....go from heel to as high on the stocking as want.....

I didn't believe it either.....but it works.  And the stockings look great onstage.

Pudding.

I know I grew up liking it, and I remember my mother making whatever the common brand was.  I remember only chocolate and vanilla, and I think it was a fairly common dessert for us.  At some point we also had tapioca, which I also liked, but I don't know if that was at home or just when we went out -- which makes me think that might have been more of a cafeteria staple.

I guess I dropped pudding over the years.  I remember enjoying a few of the ready-to-eat packs back in the early '80s, but it never caught on as a regular thing for me.  I don't think I've had tap tap tapioca in years, but a couple of years ago I renewed my acquaintance with, and declared my love for, rice pudding.  Sometimes I'll grab a tub of it at the store, throw in some raisins (and lately some dried cranberries), sprinkle some nutmeg (or is it cinnamon?  or both?) on it, and binge on it at home.  On DR Elmore's recommendation, I enjoyed the rice pudding at Artie's.

Good morning, all! Another day of confinement. It looks terrible outside and from all the TV news accounts, it apparently is.

Last night I had truly weird dreams after I got back to sleep around 3:00am.  I remember that one of them had to do with my walking exercises with Morgan my therapist, and the last one was about a recording and not wanting to hire the singer who is no longer a friend, the snow and having to get to a photocopier.  Today, I'll copy the band parts for my choral arrangement and that's about it.

Josh Grisetti?  Fantastic!  I love Josh!  I met him at Goodspeed in 2004 on "Where's Charley?" and I am a huge fan. I wanted to see him in "Peter and the Starcatcher," but it was during the period where I could barely stand upright or walk last autumn.

I brought him into the 2007 NYMF "Brain From Planet X" auditions; I thought he'd be good for Rod. My memory is that he'd just been through a surgery and couldn't do any lifting. I was thinking that was the last time I'd seen him, but it was actually backstage at the York after "So Long 174th Street."

Coffee!

Butterscotch!  I bet we had that one, too, and that I loved it.  And yes, I guess Jell-O was always the brand.

And we had lots of Jell-O, too.  Lots.

DR Elmore:  Is this the arrangement for which you didn't like the choice of instruments?  What is it, and how would you change it?

I remember Jell-o puddings. My mother used the vanilla pudding in her banana dessert that my dad liked, and we  always had it in stock in the pantry along with the others. My Aunt Lois used the chocolate and butterscotch as pie fillers.

Yep! I hate the instrument lineup: Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpet, Horn, Piano, Bass, and Drums, which is the Cincinnati chorus' instrumental lineup. I do not think it's right for the piece I did, and I'd rather score it for just the piano, bass and drums. I'd also like a guitar.

I have a suspicion that if I don't employ the other four players, someone else may write parts for them and i'd rather do it myself.  I had to do that a bit during my NYC Gay Men's Chorus years and I always felt awkward about rescoring another's piece.

If I had my way, I'd prefer a flute over a bassoon so I could write something in a tessitura higher than the men's voices, and I'd rather have two trumpets.

TOD:

I love all flavors of pudding, but do not recall my first pudding.

When I was a kid (7th grade) and really into the making of 8mm monster movies with my school buddies, I wrote out a script for a film titled ATTACK OF THE PUDDING PEOPLE which was to be a combination of live action and stop-motion animation. Alas, it remained unfilmed.
