I was also very happy to see the crowd so appreciative of Jeremy finishing and cheering him on like they did.  Maybe I'm a softie, but I thought it was very touching to watch

Is castrecl having problems today?  I haven't gotten anything since just after midnight, and usually wake up to read quite a few delightfully informative posts from the people who post overnight..

Also just tried to send the trailer link for the Midwinter Madness festival show: (caveat: self-promo ahead, but very short)

In, from close to two hours of snow blowing, and I'm not nearly done.  But it's time for a rest.

I consider that something I'm trying to forget. And apparently the months of therapy are now all for naught. ;)

Yes, I meant to mention that I really appreciated your notes on John McGlinn today, Elmore. You've written about him before and there seems to be a greater sense of calm in your remembrances of some of the stormier aspects of your relationship -- and it's nice to see that happening.

Same here.   There's something in the water, I'm betting, in dear old Tumwater....and it's not safe anywhere, any more!

I thought they said we got nine inches of snow, but now they're saying we got the most in the state:  15.6 inches.  New Canaan came in second at 15.3.

I strongly believe that if you have trained for an event, skate to qualify for that event and then you QUALIFY, then it should be YOU going to the event and not someone who was incapable of qualifying, either from injury or from having a bad day.

Of course, Ashley Wagner could not qualify for the Olympics but, because of her international standing (2nd in the world despite not having won a long program in one year) she took Mirai Nagasu's "earned" spot.

If international competition is the criteria, one has to wonder why Jeremy Abbott was not replaced by Max Aaron, who finished third.   Abbott has an ABYSMAL record of winning national titles and then flopping miserably at international events like the Olympics and the World Championships.

That he flopped so miserably in the team competition is completely in character with his record.  And that he flopped in the short program is also in keeping.  Oh, sure....he'll skate beautifully from here on...now that there is ZERO possibility for him to medal and there is virtually no chance for the U.S. to earn that extra men's position at international competitions.

Next thing you know, we'll be in the same boat as Russia and have only one men's spot.
