I must extend BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES to two DRs:

ONE DAY LATE, BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSE & JRAND(fifty-something)!

Media Check:
DVDS:
EXPRESSO BONGO
FREAKY FRIDAY (Barbara Harris)
NORTH AVENUE IRREGULARS (Barbara Harris)
VILLAGE/CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED (NOT Barbara Harris)
THE BAD SEED (Most assuredly NOT Barbara Harris)

VCR:
Two of my cabarets and one of my musical reviews, which I was dubbing for a pal Down Under.

CD PLAYER:
A Debbie Shapiro Gravitte compilation recording, mostly produced by the esteemed Bruce Kimmel, including the two tracks from THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL which feature Deb's voice - for a pal Down Under once again. So this would also mean that there were numerous BK-produced cds in the cd slots.

ALF
RAINDANCING - two early Alison Moyet cds, not to be confused with hairy puppets.

OLIVIA 2 - from a friend and DR from Down Under, who knows that there are no kangaroos loose in my upper paddock.  (and the hidden track is really quite cool!)

Another compilation disc gleaned from the original recording behind my cabaret DREAMERS.  (Betty Buckley, Nancy LaMott, Davis Gaines, John Denver, Alan Arkin, et al).

Renee Geyer LIVE - still listening and loving.

Tonight, per a request, I'll be compiling some Bruce Springsteen tracks for a pal. . .in exchange for a compilation of Van Morrison tracks.

Wave those corndogs!  I love corndogs!  I havent' had a corndog in nearly a month!

This is based on what facts?  Where is the reliable information, the resources to back up these comments?

I expected better from you, Francois.

This is based -- gee, did not know I had to justify my opinion! -- on the facts that are related in JIMHILLMEDIA.COM, which is a professional site, NOT a fan site......

I did not know I was going to hurt WalMart's and Disney's feelings!
I'm quite sorry for that!
I've spent SO MUCH money at both "places" that I think i'm entitled to an opinion.... just for the FUN of it!

-- they're the ones LAUGHING all the way to the bank, NOT I!! --

SWW the inside of WalMart is okay but I have issues with their business practices-have from the beginning.  Could that be it?
Specifics, Jane, please provide specifics and sources.

I will admit, most of my opinions of WalMart (and Sam's Club, which is closely affiliated) are from my shopping experiences there.  I report back with more details if I get hired there.

I just don't like to base my opinions on hearsay.

SWW sorry I’m feeling too ill to go into it but I didn’t care for the way they moved in and put out the smaller businesses.  I know it is just business and I like Kmart, Borders and other stores that have done the same thing.

I missed you might be working there.  I hope you get the job if you want it and have a very good experience.  Maybe you will change my opinion of them.

Bryan cut his hair and shaved after he returned home.  This idiot mother took a picture of his Sugar Gliders in his arms, but not of him with his new haircut.  I feel like such a bad mother. :-[

I'm going to bed.

I spent a nice afternoon watching the DVD of NUNCRACKERS which came in the mail today. It's being done by two local theaters at Christmas this year, and as I'm interested in auditioning when the time comes (October 3rd and 4th), I wanted to get more familiar with it. Silly, breezy, obvious fun.

Unbelievable how Dan Goggin has stretched this concept to fill up all these shows. (4 and counting) Still, they seem to bring a lot of pleasure to a lot of people, so who am I to criticize?

Rough translation, Noel has never BEEN INSIDE a WalMart.

How this can bring his earlier comment that he "hates" WalMart is puzzling, regarding how can "hate" be based on anything other than personal experience.  Unless, of course, he's been carefully taught, as Ehrenreich's book appears to have done.

Prejudice.  It's not just for the radical right any more.

Many of us have read of atrocities in books written by writers we trust, and can form opinions.  One might point to how Saddam Hussein treated Iraqis - I never heard anyone who called Saddam evil (without having been in Iraq to experience him) called prejudiced.  Everybody hates Saddam, with good reason.

If you're thinking of working for Wal-Mart, as Ehrenreich did, all I can say is I'm very sorry for you.  It's a horrible company that treats its employees abyssmally.  But that's not experiential: It's what's known as an informed opinion.  I read about it, and I found out.

A lot of us enjoy the analogy that this here site is like a party at BK's place.  It's certainly fine for a party guest to say he doesn't like a certain chain store.  To call that guest prejudiced, on the other hand...

Dear reader writer Panni,
Me thinks BK is being pretty harsh on you lately!
"Hang in there".... we're behind you!

 ;)
Qui Bene Amat Bene Castigat... I guess!

I hadn't really noticed any harshness. Bruce likes to mock-insult me. It's his shtick.

Btw, BK and other L.A. area H/Ks...  I noticed in yesterday's L.A. Weekly that "Broadway: The Golden Age" will only be running until next week, September 2.  So...  I guess I'll be seeing it sometime Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.  *And the theatre it's at, the Laemmle Fairfax, is only showing once a day at 5:00 - or 4:40 depending which ad listing you look at.  ???  -Maybe they're taking into account the coming attractions and commercials before the movie. ;)

Bruce, and those aren’t my low jeans.  ;D

I thought of you on the trip.  Seems the style was very tight cotton pants with thongs underneath.  I never studied the backside of women before but I was trying to figure out what they had on under those tight pants. LOL

My cousin has had no problems working with WalMart; she started there as soon as she was able to do "work-study" in Pennsylvania ( which allows for under 16-ers to work minimal shifts, none going beyond 10:00pm), her wages have been helping through her sophomore year of college.  She's had no complaints.  In today's job market, it's rough to be called prejudiced or to be called prejudiced.

Behind Jane's belly button is a gorgeous synagogue. (Tony Curtis gave a ton of money in his father's memory to refurbish it.) The synagogue was seen in the Alan Bates movie, THE FIXER.
Point of interest (other that DR Jane's bb) - one of my grandmother's relatives (thus mine, I guess) was one of the architects of the synagogue. Another Jane connection!
BTW – DR Jane certainly looks too young to be the mother of those two young men!

No more wire thongs, EVER.  Those youngsters and their nasty thongs.  Someday they will look back and think, "How could I EVER have been so ridiculous as to wear such a thing" and when they say it I shall laugh and laugh and then, just when they think I am through, I shall laugh some more.

Jane,

My cousin = JMK's rabbi.
Your FedEx guy = MBarnum's brother.

What are some of the other connections you've made, here or elsewhere?
DR Jane has not connected me to MusicGuy yet! And there is a connection.

I don't think Jane could be those young men's mother either...she MUST be their sister!

TD, I LOVE Allison Moyet's ALF! One of my favorite CDs...but you know, I have never listened to any of her other CDs! I must remedy that someday!

What was Bette Davis' favorite beverage in the evening I wonder?

Here are my Bollywood movies for this weekend!

First up (which I started watching last night and will finish this evening) SAMPOORNA RAMAYAN. There have been dozens of version of SAMPOORNA RAMAYAN filmed over the years and they are based, I guess, on an ancient Hindi legend/story.

This particular version was made in 1961 in color and it is quite grand (even though the print has certainly seen better days and the color is washed out). There seem to be some bizarre half monkey/half men in the film...they are a little scary!
