Hey, everybody! Sorry for the recent errantness & truancy.

TOD: Back when I had hair, I was known to spritz a little hairspray in high school. That ended quickly, as I never really had the patience to deal with fancy grooming. Never did carry a comb, though.

SUPER VIBES FOR DR DAN!!!

When will you know if you are returning to work?

I was perusing the University of Arizona's employment opportunities and found a listing posted by the woman who is in charge of benefits (and who knows all about my illness and leave).  The listing ends on February 28, so I decided yesterday that I would update and spruce up my resume and letter of interest.  By midnight last night, I was ready to upload to the job posting and I'm guessing that sometime by the end of this month I will be contacted.  From what I know of HR practices, if I am selected for an interview, that would occur at the beginning of March.  There are 2 other listings for which I may apply.  However, now that I am back in the mix, even if this particular job posting should not pan out, my resume and information is current on the HR website, and 99% of the HR people know me or know of me, so there may be other opportunities I don't know about at this time.

Having to take medical leave I would think you would have some advantage for re-employment over other applicants.

I'm up, I'm up - guess I needed to sleep late, because I did.

I wish I had since I didn't fall asleep until after 3:00.

Good morning, all!  I slept well, with one long dream about the show MATILDA, which I have no urge to see and God alone knows why I dreamed about that! Earlier, I had an unsettling nightmare; i remember waking around 1:30, alarmed and happy to be awake.

Today, I will head down to Toyland around 9:30 or so, I have a rehearsal with ur leading man, the actress playing his bitch fiancee, and the actor playing the other man.  We should be finished around 3:00, and I will head back uptown.

I got this email yesterday from the incinnati Men's Chorus conductor about the choral piece I arranged:
The arrangement sounds FABULOUS!!!  The guys just love singing it and the nicest thing is that the voicing is smooth and well-written.  You would be amazed and saddened by the lack of quality writing for men's chorus lately; few people know how to write well with good voice-leading and interesting yet not-too-complicated harmonies.  We just read it last week and, after working through all three sections, the guys wanted to sing it through AGAIN!

I guess they're happy. I have to get some work on the orchestration this morning. I'd like to post it by Friday.

More coffee!

That's wonderful, Larry!

Good morning, all.

I think it's safe to say the worst is over, last night having been that very worst what with feeling slightly feverish and all.  But that broke in the middle of the night, and it's such a wonderful thing to recognize that you've just turned the corner.

Great news!

I am off to Toyland!

Funny response to DR Ginny's question ;)

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Ginny: DR Elmore, since they're so fond of your arrangements I'm sure the Cincinnati chorus will now want to meet you in person!

elmore: The invitation has been extended.

Several times.

Ginny: And....?

elmore: I am off to Toyland!

I found the timing of your "off to Toyland" funny.

As for your true response I had a pretty good idea of the what & why.

However, if BK should require my services, I would gladly work for him and relocate to Cal.  I'm always ready for new careers and learning new things.  I am at the point now that I am very happy to be here because last year at this time, my future looked pretty dim.

Back from a patty melt and no fries or onion rings.  Work session in forty minutes, followed by a Wechter visit.

You may already know this, but Patty Melt was one of the very few failed characters by Peanuts creator Schulz, aside from Dust Bin.  Manila Folder was the absolute nadir of the entire series, when there was an attempt to enter the Pacific Rim market.

I only remember Pig-Pen and Peppermint Patty.

Today I found Keith's missing little comb he sometimes puts in his pocket to use at the gym.  He was very happy as he has had this comb forever.

I hated that I was forced to wear hair spray.  I would cover my face and gag while I was being sprayed.  My hairdresser is a little forgetful at times and always asks if I want hairspray and I always say no.  I don't like anything sticky in my hair either.

One year I was in L.A. for a special occasion and my sister took me to the Vidal Sassoon Salon to get our hair done.  I actually made the hairdresser re-wash my hair and remove the crap she had put in it.  I was pleasant about it and she kindly did so without an argument.  .

As a kid in the 1970s I did not use any product in my hair, but I did use a comb, though I don't recall ever carrying it with me.

In the 80s and 90s I used an assortment of hair gels.

In mid 90s I began getting my hair cut very short, and now I just use Crew Comb in my hair. If needed, I use a brush or just my fingers, but the gray in my hair seem to be good at keeping it all in place, mostly.

The Zsa Zsa Charo Performing Artistes Repertory Theatre

I would like a season subscription, please.      :)

By the way, you know that both Zsa Zsa and Charo are on Pee Wee's Christmas Spectacular? It's the greatest of all Christmas specials. Grace Jones, Magic Johnson, Little Richard, k.d. lang, Frankie and Annette, Oprah and Dinah Shore are a few of the other special guests.

My dad used Vitalis when I was growing up. I remember trying to carry a comb when I was a kid, but I guess I just stopped somewhere along the way.

Topic of the Day:

I've never (regularly) used anything in my hair.  I've had several hair cuts where the barber/hair stylist put something in at the time, but I never used it myself.  I've also done shows where I've had to slick down my hair, but those situations were for the good of the show...not my own preferred "look."  And I don't think that I've ever carried a comb with me, although when I was a kid, I did use a comb.  Now, I only use a brush.  I don't know why, it just worked out that way.

Saw a movie on DVD today and I could hardly believe how good the performances were. It was called Short Term 12 and starred a wonderful actress named Brie Larson, whom I didn't know, and John Gallagher Jr., whom I remember being the best thing about Spring Awakening.

Found myself getting lost in the story and the characters in a way I haven't experienced with a modern movie in some time.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I paired them up.  I remember seeing that awhile back.  If you haven't, watch "The Dinah Shore Portal to Hell" on youtube.

The very first 1970s one-season wonder show in this youtube compilation is "Marty Feldman's Comedy Machine" with what appears to be Terry Gilliam animation.  If I'm not mistaken, Marty Feldman was in "At Last The 1948 Show" with future Monty Pythoners Graham Chapman and John Cleese:

Here's a Dudley Moore movie with a soundtrack that should be given a proper release, "30 is a Dangerous Age, Cynthia" (I believe "Bedazzled" was given a proper release, but I'm not entirely certain of that.  If not, it needs to be.)
