I"m playing the first part instead of second at this concert.   I can play all the notes.....it's about time I got back to playing almost as well as I used to

is Pharrel Williams singing Happy?   I love that song.  I realize it only has about 4 lines in it and isn't a great song, but it makes me smile and want to dance

I don't recall that name as being listed.  But maybe.

Hmmm, so the hoilter monitor I had to wear is not covered by my insurance.  So I'm paying for it, it was about a month ago and I still haven't had anyone tell me the results.  I'm about ready to quit going to the doctor altogether.

Why is Pink performing at the Oscars?  The only connection I can think of is that she may have watched a movie.

:)

What is she singing?  The song from Her?  The Moon Song?   On Youtube someone named Karen O sang it

Karen O is also scheduled to appear.

And also, Idina Menzel.

Home from the show - good audience, good show, ailing cast members - everyone but Sami seems to have a cold, but they sang through it just fine.  Sami, on her way up to get her hat and cane for Where Would You Be Without Me, took a fall, but she recovered quickly like the pro she is.

At the end of the show they brought me up on stage, which was very sweet.  It was the final show I'll be seeing and Lloyd Cooper's final show - one wishes they'd just closed it tonight, but they have a sold out matinee tomorrow.

It sounds like it was a good show to see for the last time.

Today after waking up, showering and getting dressed, I was just going to work concessions for The Olympia Dance Festival, but my mom called yesterday and asked if I would come over and help move an overstuffed couch and two overstuffed chairs.  They're my parents' couch and chairs, but my mom sold them to someone from North Bend...which is at least an hour and a half away.  So, I'll go over there around 1:00 and wait until the people who bought the couch and chairs come over, then help them (if necessary) to get the items into whatever vehicle they drove.  My mom said she'd make me something to eat (always nice) and we'll probably have more than enough time to play Phase 10 before I have to leave for the theater.

I got to my parents' house (actually at about 2:00) and my mom made some pretty darned good spaghetti (which I just realized is still in the trunk of my car!) and we played Phase 10 (my dad won) while waiting for the buyer of my parents' couch and chairs.  The woman's brother and I were able to move the couch and chairs fairly easily out of the house and into the moving van that they were driving.  They left, we then finished the game of Phase 10 and I went to the theater.

Tonight, I ushered for The Olympia Dance Festival at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  It featured a bunch of different dance companies showing off. ;) What was really cool was one of the choreographers was my friend Alice!  I hadn't seen her in a couple of years, so we got to chat for a bit out in the lobby.  After the show, I got something to eat and now I'm at home for the duration.

I believe I've never even seen ten minutes of 55 DAYS AT PEKING.  I shall look forward to that one of these days.

This was on TCM a few months ago and recorded it for my dad.

Just had to share. :)

Update: we have decided to put my father into palliative care. They cannot give a timeframe. I will stay for a few more days. Go home and return when the time to say our final goodbyes draws closer.  I do not think I'll be around tomorrow to join in the festivities. Thank you.

Yesterday, I had my follow up with the oral surgeon. He thinks everything is healing up nicely, although everything is still quite tender, and the sutures are sharp and cut my tongue every time I try to eat.    :P

Last night, I saw the film West Side Story, accompanied live by the Minnesota Orchestra. It was quite something, and thoroughly enjoyable.  They've processed the soundtrack to retain everything EXCEPT the music cues, which are supplied by the live orchestra. The conductor and the concertmaster wear an earphone which supplies a click track, and the conductor also has a screen with various colored bars sliding across, as well as a downbeat indicator. Somehow, it all stays together. And this is wonderfully symphonic music which benefits from the treatment. I think they've slightly adjusted the orchestrations, as the film version had a colossal number of musicians, which isn't practical for a contemporary symphony orchestra. In any case, the live sound waves in the hall were wonderfully thrilling, and beat out a pre-recorded soundtrack any day. The whole program was well-received by an enthusiastic full house.

Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

I just watched "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (he took over for Jimmy Fallon when Fallon went to "The Tonight Show") and I like Seth Meyers, but it really feels like they use a laugh track.  What's that all about? :-\

I can only assume that what they show as a "Broadway" audition is not at all how it works.
