so shortly your downstairs neighbor should be getting an indoor rainstorm?

If that were to happen, perhaps the whole repair would be placed on a higher priority...

Well, at least they can't say that we didn't get to page 10.

I was just at a "sidecar" party downstairs.  Not the traditional St. Patrick's day drink of choice. But one guest was wearing a green derby and green flashing sunglasses.

I ordered the LIL ABNER Broadway Cast CD yesterday.

DR CHAS SMITH:

The Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream about vacuuming spiders tells us that you feel that you are being manipulated by some people in your life.  Just when you think things have been talked out and repaired, it starts again.  Drop them from your email list and keep them at bay.

Thanks a lot JRand,  I had only just forgotten that dreadful dreadful dream which reminded me of a horrendous Night Gallery episode which gave me nightmares for years

:)

Sweet dreams, Vixmom.

There's an extra on the opening of Finian's. It's hilarious. All the guests going in on the red carpet look like they're miserable. Can't imagine what they felt going out of the movie theater.

My bathroom ceiling just collapsed. It is in my sink, my bathtub and my toilet. I cannot enter the space and I have no idea how I will deal with any emergencies.

If the lady above me had not taken a shower - the super tells me he told them not to use the tub - things might have been okay. It was her shower that finished off things.

OH NO!!    I wish I was closer and could offer you a bed for the night

Did they serve sidecars?

Strange. In the past, the site problems have been for all DRs - but this time, it seems, only selected special DRs. I haven't seen the problems this time.

Of course, DR Jennifer and DR Michael Shayne are our resident experts on the weather in Canada, but I've been to both Ottawa and Montreal in summer (July) and experienced 70s and low 80s. It was starting to cool in September, whereas in DC September is still hot, so  a shorter summer than DC, but still quite ample, to my mind. But I don't like hot weather. And I'm told that British Columbia is quite temperate.

No, I think they drink in British Columbia.

Back from a lovelier than lovely corned beef and cabbage meal with Barry and Cindy.  I thought it was going to be a small dinner party with other friends, but it turned out I was the only guest - and that was great, actually.  We had a good deal of fun.  Even better, when I picked up my mail, the softcover version of Red Gold had arrived - always a thrilling moment to hold the actual book, although that moment is always best with the hardcover.

If the plumbers are truly incompetent a higher priority might not help. I suspect that Larry's apartment would be deemed uninhabitable and alternative housing should be provided, but that's hardly convenient. Fix leak, let dry, replaster ceiling, prime, paint--it could take weeks.

Sorry to hear about the travails of elmore's bathroom environment.  I would not be able to stay there - I have a thing about bathrooms and any disorder I cannot deal with and have to be far away from.  I remember the horror of when we were subletting Debbie Gravitte's upper West Side apartment and they had to rip up the bathroom floor - my worst nightmare and I finally went to a hotel.

Larry, I wish you the best of all possible outcomes. Now the new super has a chance to show how receptive he'll be to tenant needs.

TCB, what you posted earlier about your FREE wifi was interesting. Time Warner supplied me with a modem, which they charge me outrageously for, but I had to supply the router. My neighbor downstairs was given a laptop by his niece. He called Verizon, who supplied his landline, and they connected his wifi with no router. Built-in routers somewhere? Does anyone know? DR Ben? George?
