The Associated Press has decided today that "over" can be used in place of "more than." To which I say, more than my dead body.

Our poor Mt. Ashland ski area.  I just read the following:
"It was a matter of degrees: The temperatures were just high enough and Mount Ashland's elevation just low enough for the worst convergence of weather conditions that the southern Oregon ski resort has ever experienced."

In 50 years they have always had enough snow to open, until this year.  There was rain but the temps were usually a couple of degrees too high for snow.

A book just became available to read from my library wish list so I will read that instead of Allegiant.
You mean Insurgent.

What language are you two speaking?

Klingon

Yeah, I know what you mean. The cats left one on the rug this morning.

The problem with my Bucket list is every time I go someplace, or do something, on it I find twice as many things to add to it.

I have never thought of it as being a bucket list.  Instead it is only things I would like to do.

Same here.  The term "bucket list" has become so common I now use it.

I am very tired this afternoon.  I wish I didn't have to go to rehearsal tonight.  Although, the two scenes we are blocking tonight are not really difficult.  In fact the first one that we are doing from 6:30 to 8:00, I could phone in my part.

I call the scene, "Letters to Marmee" because it consists of the three letters that are sent to Marmee!

I guess Tahiti is still on my bucket list.  I don't know why.  I couldn't swim, I couldn't snorkel, and I couldn't scuba dive.

DR George that would be funny if someone would read the Divergent books in the order they became available at the library. I am guessing that the first book has more reservations now because of the movie coming out today.

I can imagine that some people do that.  I wouldn't want to.  There would be too much missing information for any of it to make sense...but that's just me.

I was just kidding. No smileys when posting from my kindle! :)

DR Jennifer have you read the 2 Divergent short stories?
I will have to check my goodreads account. I know I read whichever ones came out before Allegiant. But I think since they are about the story before Allegiant that they should have all come out before that book came out. Plus the last book was so controversial. I was sort done with the author.  I wonder if the ecopy of Allegiant is still really cheap. I have seen it cheap quite often.

Are you suggesting I skip the 3rd book?  It is $11.49 at B & N so I will not be buying it.  Hmmm, should I stop now before continuing to the 2nd book and wait for the movies?  Speaking of the film, it seems they aged the leads a bit.

It's $6.99 on amazon right now.

No I would definitely read the 2nd book. I really loved Insurgent. Probably more than Divergent.  And I would definitely read Allegiant. How could you read the first two books and not find out how the story ends? Some people loved it. Some people hated it. The whole book was different from the other two. Definitely read it.

I don't think that they aged the leads. In the book I'd say Tris was 17ish and Four was early twenties. I'm pretty sure that is what they were in the movie. They never said their ages in the movie. But I think you had to be a certain age to be tested.

I watched Gravity tonight. I think I liked the 2nd half more than the first half.

I didn't love it. It was okay. And I sort of enjoyed it while watching it. But not much really happened. And so few actors!

Yes, had Allegiant on my brain.  I like to alternate the types of books I read.  It is rare that I go directly to the next book in a series unless it is just convenient to do so.  An exception was The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.  I had a very short wait for that one but would have begun reading it immediately if I had the option.

I usually read books in a series as they come out (so one year in between). But i have on occasion read all three in a row. At least then you remember the story.  I have a notebook where i write a summary of the books i read that are series including a detailed description of the ending. There is also a site (called recaptains) they summarize most YA series book by book (minus the last book) to help people remember.

My favorite part of Tahiti was enjoying the view of Moorea & swimming.  Bora Bora & Moorea, IMHO, where much prettier.

DR Jane, i read Divergent 2 1/2 years ago. I wonder what rating I would give it now. I don't give very many 5 stars. At the time it was a new thing dystopia. And the book just surprised me. I think I have only given one book 5 stars so far this year (i'd have to check to be sure). Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

I am sure my ratings often reflect my mood at the time.

Dystopia isn't new to me, just the constant reference to the word and the popularity of YA dystopia.  Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favorite books and if dystopia was used in describing it, back when, it would have been a fairly casual remark.

I think I'm more picky now to give books 5 stars. Although I think I may have actually given the new Lisa Gardner books 5 stars (or 4.5).  Not that it is necessarily the best book ever. But for the type of book it is I think that she is an amazing writer.

Keeping notes does make it easier.  I don't but should, same goes for movies.

DR George yes the movie Divergent is based on a very popular book trilogy written by Veronica Roth. The books are YA dystopia. Check your library. I am sure they are hugely popular.  They explain a lot in the movie. So I think it will be easy for people to follow wo have not read the books.

I actually just looked and for "Divergent," we have 15 copies of the downloadable e-book and it has 95 holds (requests)!  I placed holds on the other two titles, but they don't have as many copies or requests.  I might get them before the first book. :-\

According to DR Jennifer on Goodreads read Divergent before the short stories, especial "The" Transfer:
This novella was excellent. Loved it. Even though this novella is listed as #0.1 DO NOT READ IT before reading Divergent. It is listed as a prequel because it takes place before Divergent. But there are some big surprises/spoilers from Divergent in this novella.

Wow, aren't I helpful. :)

Actually there is a trend for YA writers to write prequels after they write the first book. Those who had already read Divergent would read it first and then the prequels. But those new to the series would probably read the prequel first thinking that was the correct order. I feel like they should definitely post the spoiler info in the blurb saying the order to read it in.

Four is the narrator of these prequels.

I gave it a solid 4 stars.  I might have given it an extra half except the wrap up on the book, for me, didn't = the rest of the book.

Yes then i guess they do seem a bit older. I thought that Four was more than 2 years older. And I thought that Tris must have been at least 17.

In real life Shailene (who plays Tris) is 22.

And Theo (who plays Four) is 29.
