Many years back, I and a few friends decided to spend some time and money at the Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus, NJ.  (This was in the 80s, well before the "Seinfeld" episode that took place at a NYC area mall.)  Of course, it being a weekend, the mall and more particularly, the parking lot, were packed to the gills.  We, being carefree and careless college students, not a one of us took note of where we parked.  The mall looked the same from all sides.  We spent more time looking for the car than we did in the actual mall.  We trod the same ground and entered and reentered the same stores time and again.  We tried to remember if we passed by the perfumes or the handbags when we entered the mall.  We just had no clue.  After several hours, when the mall began to close down, we began to believe that the car was stolen.  One of us got a security guard to ride around the parking lots around the mall.  It turned out that the car was right where we parked it, but we found it only because everyone was going home and there were fewer and fewer cars in the lots.

Today you could use your key to click on the lock and light up the car or make it beep.  That is about the only way I can find my rental cars.

TOD - During the opening credits of a movie, I whispered to my date, "When does this take place?"  The movie was "Summer of '42."

LOL, oh that is embarrassing.

And I am home from THE MOST HAPPY FELLA rehearsal, which went very well, considering that cast members are suffering from the same crud that knocked me over last week. The show runs quickly and much of it is very good. There's one directorial misstep near the end that surprised me sicne i think Casey Nicolaw's work is really good, but the staging is generally very fine and the musical direction excellent, but I expect no less from Rob Berman. Kevin Vortmann, who's one of the seven Collegians on ROBERTA, plays the Doctor and he's really wonderful.

That's a very promising MHF report, DR Elmore!  We walked past City Center today, probably while you were there.

Along the lines of "Herrmann at Fox" and "Goldsmith at Lunch", when will there ever be a "Hal Mooney at Universal" box set?

Kevin Vortmann

He did an amazing job on Bernstein's Mass with the Baltimore Symphony at Carnegie Hall a few years back. He was not the Celebrant, but he had a featured role and was most intense.

I really do need to stop spending, and do some downsizing...like switching from a 2 bdrm apt to a 1 bdrm, park on the street instead of paying for a parking spot at my apartment, getting rid of cable television, getting rid of my land line...

..then maybe I could once again afford to take a NY or LA trip!

I tell you, life without credit cards kind of puts a damper on things.

I can think of something foolish that both DR Jane and BK have done....and that is, to let me drive them someplace in Portland!  ;)

Did you also get Bruce lost?

I for one did not find it foolish but loads of fun, even if Bruce was fuming at the restaurant waiting for us.

I always joked that I would get lost going around the block.  When we moved to Michigan for the second time, and into a new neighborhood, I picked up pizza several blocks away and did get lost going home.

I got a bit mixed up trying to drive BK back to his hotel in downtown Portland. Normally I know downtown like the back of my hand, but for some reason I could not find the correct street to turn down...mostly because we had already passed it.

I can tell you that since I have been treated for the sleep apnea, my driving skills have improved greatly.

I totally blame sleep apnea with my always, no matter where it was that I needed to be, ending up in Pasadena during my last vacation to LA.

Well, you were a fun person to get lost with, DR Jane!

But how we could get that lost and for such a lengthy amount of time, when the restaurant was only less than 1 mile way, is incredulous. Which is exactly what BK and former DR JMK said, didn't they...although in completely different words.

1 bedroom apts come up often in my building, but I like having the second bedroom as an office/guest room.

Of course, in the 3 or 4 years since I moved, the only guest who has ever slept in the guest room is my little grand-nephew Cole. And that was only once. And he threw up in it.

Once I am finished with my Bollywood books, and have wrapped up all of my B movie star interviews, I will retire from writing and begin to downsize my living quarters.

As it is, I have been doing a lot of downsizing...in fact, DR JRand may be getting another package of stuff soon (although, some of it I need to ask him if he wants it or not, as he might already have them).

Well, I managed to spread that into several separate posts. BK should be happy with that.

since I have been treated for the sleep apnea

I am having an evaluation interview in the next few weeks, and then possibly a sleep study.

TOD:

I finally thought of something!

I am very soft-spoken. And restaurants are often noisy places. The result is that I often do not get what I had ordered, or items are left off my order. My DH is resigned by now; it happens so often.

Maybe if I get one of those machines I won't get lost so often.  I do like living in a small town.  You can't be lost for too long.
