I appeared on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW back in 1969.  I was on the show for a couple of minutes.  Merv was actually talking to the people sitting in the balcony behind me about something, but I was in the camera shot for the whole time he talked to them.

Wonderful story.

Book and CDs have arrived. The cover on the book looks great.

Plus something to listen to while working tonight. Yay!

Cool!  In December of 1995, my forehead was on "Live with Regis and Kathy Lee" for about three frames. ;)

Also cool.  Where was the rest of your head?

Hidden behind the person in front of me who won a prize. :P

And I am home from a long day but a very good one; the perfect antidote to the grief, sturm und drang of last night. The dress rehearsal of GUYS AND DOLLS was really wonderful: nicely directed, superbly acted by most of the cast, and accompanied by an excellent orchestra. I don't know who choreographed (no programs, DR JRand63) but it all worked so beautifully within the space. My one caveat was Megan Mullaley, who seemed to be commenting on Miss Adelaide rather than being the character. A claque of gay chorus boys across the aisle from me loved her.  I wanted to.

As I was hobbling up the aisle in search of a seat, I ran smack into my former best friend who dropped me in January 2012. It was the first time I'd seen him since I went from his A to D list. He said, what happened to your leg, and as I walked past him I said, I'm crippled. That was the extent of conversation between me and someone I once regarded as family. I got to the back of the house and found a seat on the aisle. Shortly after that, Joshie found me and sat with me for the rehearsal.

Then I met our DR ChasSmith, and we went to a bar around the corner from Carnegie Hall; I had two gin and tonics and he had one Manhattan. We then joined DRs Kevin H, Ben, Ginny, Richard, and our E&T DR Jose ar he Brooklyn Diner for a lovely meal. And a lovely gathering it was.

I got home to find my copy of THE BOOK.  BK, I loved the inscription and I agree about the key of E-flat and the Brass. Absolutely spot on!

I am glad you provided that photo, DR George. I just checked the envelope that the book came in; I had missed the magnet!       :P

I love the gifties, and am looking forward to starting to read this evening.

Thanks, SeeSaw, for posting the photo.  Somehow I missed the fact that Ben had joined the group.

A few months back I mentioned the shock of the sudden death of a friend of mine named Barbara Wolfe, who had been a special person on the restaurant and live music scene here in San Antonio. Turns out her husband, Steve Silbas, will not likely be with us much longer. Sad to say, but in the last few days, he's had several heart attacks and a series of strokes on top of problems stemming from a longtime need for a kidney transplant. He's not conscious and he's not responsive to any treatment.

The snow, I mean, not Flagstaff.

I knew that at some point I'd eventually run into him but since we are both Upper West Siders, I thought it would have happened by now. It did catch completely me by surprise, but i'm glad i kept my cool. I usually don't at such awkward moments.

We had a great time supping with DRs Elmore, Ben, ChasSmith, KevinH, and Jose.  DR Elmore had come from a performance and everyone else was off to one.  MOST HAPPY FELLA was glorious and we'd go to another ENCORES production in a minute.  We had a nice intermission chat with DR ChasSmith, who I hope has made it home safely in the rain.

Had a great rehearsal, about which more in the notes, then a few of us went and had dinner, my first and only food of the day.  Listening to an upcoming project right now.

And nothing could have made the evening better save for Jrand's lovely review of Red Gold - it made me very happy.  Hoping others will take the time to do amazon reviews, too - they're very helpful.

Jrand can PM me to tell me what the "WHAT?" moment was.
