Sunday afternoon greetings from HOME!  The AAUW Ohio convention is history.  Middletown was well-represented and we now have a member on the state board.  Betty was installed today as state membership vice-president.  I haven't told her how grueling the board meetings can be...

Busy day today - church this morning, followed by a choir party.

Then, this evening, going to a piano concert - Anthony de Mare's Liaisons project. Contemporary composers re-imagine Sondheim songs. Eventually, they will all be recorded and released.

Here is the program:
A Little Night Fughetta (2010) William Bolcom (after “Anyone Can Whistle” & “Send in the Clowns”)
Every Day A Little Death (2008/2010) Ricky Ian Gordon
The Demon Barber (2010) Kenji Bunch (A Fantasia on “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd”)
Johanna in Space (2014) Duncan Sheik
Color and Light (2012) Nico Muhly
Finishing the Hat –Two Pianos (2010) Steve Reich
The Ladies Who Lunch (2010) David Rakowski
Everybody’s Got the Right (2012) Michael Daugherty
 INTERMISSION
 Now (2012) Mary Ellen Childs
 (after “Now/Later/Soon” – A Little Night Music)
Send in the Clowns (2011) Ethan Iverson
No One Is Alone (2010) Fred Hersch
I Think About You (2010) Paul Moravec
I’m Excited. No You’re Not. (2010) Jake Heggie (after “A Weekend in the Country” – A Little Night Music)

That sounds great, Sing!  Enjoy!

Today (actually, as soon as my friend Margo comes to pick me up), I am going down to Portland to see Margo's daughter Alexis in her own cabaret show!  We're going to have dinner and then watch Alexis perform the show that she put together on her own.  Here's her description:

Quote
Alexis Moore Eytinge Performs Cabaret Marital Status: Not Married a.k.a. Single. Alexis has put together a variety of songs and quip to chronicle the heart and mind's relationship with love. With Yvette Starkey accompanying her on the piano and the delicious restaurant and bar it will be a delightful evening!

Good afternoon.  Don't if the wind is technically fast enough to be a blizzard out, but I think it's close.  Last I looked it wasn't sticking on the roadway but it's starting to pile up on the grass

AND tonight is the season opener for MAD MEN!

I know!  I have to record it and watch it after I get back from Portland.  Alexis' show is not a late show, so I might be able to watch MM tonight.

Now that I'm catching up on my life, it's time for me to order the new book.  Is it available on nook?

My taxes were filed last week and the money should come out of my account tomorrow. It was a relief to get that done.

I still have to do mine. ::)

And now, I'm off to Portland!  Fortunately, I'm not driving.  Margo has a Honda Odyssey mini-van and she'll be driving.  Whew!

Have a good day, all!

I think DR Singdaw needs to get out a bit more, maybe go to a musical event or two. He's been such a stay-at-home since the move!

John G, another congrats to your nephew. I'm a big believer in scholarship awards; I think they really help to build self-esteem and keep young people motivated.

Cilla, my rule of thumb when I had to purchase a larger size was to not buy anything too nice. I didn't want to feel bad about giving it up when I lost weight. I also keep a few of the larger items in my closet--just in case.

As for sizing, it makes no sense at all. When I first returned to LA I bought some polo shirts (I LOVE polo shirts) from Land's End in my usual size, a SMALL. I was surprised at just how small they were. The next time I purchased MEDIUMs. The MEDIUMs are actually smaller than some SMALLs I have from several years ago.

I think Chico's had the right idea. They created their own sizing system. Inconvenient at first, but the old system really isn't helping customers.

MEGA coping vibes to DR ELMORE for the bathroom ceiling repairs this coming week. I hope it isn't too awful and is over quickly.

I believe my sister is quite the motivator.
