We had an adorable Daisy Mae back in 1991....but Abner was terrible.  I didn't have anything to do with the production....and the director didn't know what he was doing.....

Mammy and Pappy and Evil Eye Fleagle were all pretty good!

And the buffed up husbands were okay.

DR Jrand63, please tell us again when your G&D goes up?  I'm guessing I won't be around that region at the right time, but just in case...

I've been wondering the same thing...

By the way, NOTE TO DR VIXMOM:

I think someone already mentioned it, but I just checked and you can indeed watch the LI'L ABNER film on Amazon for a sawbuck.

Disclaimer:  I haven't yet tried that with any film, and have no idea how well it works.

Nick Redman's commentaries are among the best, DR Ginny.

Is there a place where we can find a list of them?

An excellent question!

A quick search doesn't yield a simple list, but that would be well worth pursuing.  I've had the pleasure of going back to films I haven't watched in forever and finding his participation, so between the studio-released movies and the ones on Twilight Time, there's got to be a considerable number.

I am very excited about the new Kritzerland release.  I love Paul Glass, and the samples are wonderful!

Re the buffed up husbands - we still don't have them yet, but I had an idea yesterday and we'll see if it can happen.  The photo here is interesting - it's from the Oh Happy Day number - that number is cut from the film and therefore the reveal of the husbands is MUCH funnier in the movie - it happens later just before Put 'em Back.

I'm up again - I got two additional hours of sleep.  If I'm to jog it has to be right now because I have some banking to do before the meeting.

I don't know how it is that I am aware of that website, however.

Beautiful Day here in West Seneca, NY.

I talked to my nephew today.

He will be going to Denver Co for the Tryouts for American Ninja Warrior.  He will be featured again on NBC.

He is going in May.

It will be televised in sometime in July I think!

Well, folks, I wasn't going to do it.

I even posted that I wasn't going to do it.

And yet .... I did it.

I bought a ticket for IRMA LA DOUCE on Wednesday, May 7th.  Got a beautiful seat (second row mezzanine, center), even better than my MOST HAPPY FELLA seat which was quite fine.  This gives me three weeks to get familiar with the show, from scratch.  And it's a busy three weeks.  I'll just have to make it happen.

Back from banking - no time to jog today, so that will now have to wait for Saturday, but then it's going to be every day if possible.

I'm 5 1/2 hours into Shoah and can only watch 30 minutes or so at a time because of how upsetting it is. This story on Jews in east Ukraine having to register is making me sick to think about:

It's important to read that story carefully and yes, it's nauseating.

I bought SHOAH last year, without any intention of jumping into it right then, but I wanted to have a few of the essential WWII/Holocaust things on hand for when I'm ready to do so.

Be a good idea to back up our CDs of the original cast album, too.  And the soundtrack album.  Can't be too safe.  And I'd recommend storing those backups well offsite -- say, in Lawn Guyland? -- for extra security.

  • A person should celebrate what passes by.

I thought the world was done with this sort of thing...I guess not. :(
