Started watching the new version of Parade's End this morning. Love the way that Tom Stoppard has managed to get some of the non-linear storytelling of the novels into mini-series as well as the humor, some of which is quite nasty indeed. Great cast. I hope they get into the last book, which the first miniseries, with Judi Dench, ignored.

Unfortunately, I have a freelance article to get to.

And the word of the day is: AGNIZE!

That was a enjoyable tv series with Donna Pescow, Robert Hayes and Doris Roberts.

Let the time flow; Let the love grow
Let the rain shower; Let the rose flower
Love, it seeks; Love, it finds
Love, it conquers; Love, it binds

And there was the spin-off LOVETT SEEKS, LOVETT FINDS theme when they tried to turn SWEENEY into a sitcom

"Let the Times know, let the buzz grow
Let the blood shower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines

She pines but that guy loves a different girl;
She plots and she plans ‘til she causes a big fuss
She’s sure that he can’t love that different girl
Then there’s lots of noise an’
She says his wife died from poison

(chorus) Let the Times know, etc.

She grinds while she drives off that different girl
She does it for love that might stand the test of time
Her love gets his mind off that different girl
With this love they harbor
It’s such fun to be a barber

Let the crimes grow, let the praise flow
Let the blood shower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines
Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds -
Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett gri-inds"

Since I don't see posts in real time, I didn't know if it would show up. The last one I made did not.

Wonderful. Mrs. Lovett as a cross between Hazel and That Girl. With a little cannibalism thrown in for good measure.

I've wondered about that, too, whether it's even possible to do that.  Skip hasn't heard anything on the subject of recording, although there may be some different cast members in the two shows (?).

Thanks, John G!

And Angela Lansbury gives it an ANGIE connection.  And I think both ANGIE and SWEENEY are 1979.

That just made me picture Robert Hays as Sweeney. That's not a thought I need to have. Somehow, I can more accept Donna Pescow as Nellie.

And it's time to leave Toyland. I did not accomplish all that I meant to, because I forgot to bring something with me. Damn!

I've got to head to the pharmacy now.

Doris Roberts in 1979 might have been an interesting Mrs. Lovett.

Not sure how I feel about this story from AOL News.

Teen suspended for asking Miss America to the prom

YORK, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania high school student is in hot water for asking Miss America to prom during a question and answer session at school.

Eighteen-year-old Patrick Farves said he received three days of in-school suspension Thursday because he asked Nina Davuluri to prom.

The senior at Central York High School stood up and popped the prom question, then walked to the stage with a plastic flower. Davuluri just laughed and the students cheered.

School officials heard about Farves' plan in advance and warned him not to do it. He has apologized for disrupting the event.

The school says students are disciplined for breaking rules and this incident is no different.

Davuluri was at the school to talk with students about diversity and the importance of science, technology, engineering and math studies.

I think suspending the kid is a bit overboard. Yes they told him not to do it. But why suspend him?

Thank you to DRs Singdaw, John G, FJL, and Jennifer for the kind thoughts for Mr. B.  Unfortunately, he passed away early this afternoon, with Fr. Richard and a large extended family at his side.  They will all need our thoughts and prayers now, especially Mrs. B.  She is also in very poor health.

Suspended for asking Miss America to the prom?  He didn't mug her, he didn't molest her, and I think it was charming. What the hell is wrong with education these days?

DR Jeanne thanks for the Helms link.  They don't exactly state the recipes are from the original Helms Bakery only that they are "expecting the delightful doughnut-and-cream-puff-gloriousness of yesterday".

Also, thank you for not commenting I wrote clothes instead of close-lol
