I've only got cds to report as far as media is concerned:
Cybill Shepherd - TALK MEMPHIS TO ME
Judy Collins -  SINGS LEONARD COHEN: DEMOCRACY
Parker Scott - self-titled
THE FANTASTICKS - the Japan Tour recording
Renee Geyer - LIVE
JOK - 22 Golden hits
ONJ - 2
(I'm beginning to remind myself of a song from HAIR).

Mitzi Gaynor is 74! How can this be? I guess she is only 73 in some parts of the world.

Oh, that Mitzi!.... oh a Chevalier reference!

Got to see her show in the late eighties at the Tupperware Theater; she still could dance up a storm and do a mean Dr Ruth imitation!

Dan-in-Toronto your friend has a fun smile and the Challah does look good.

François  ;D, I am deprived of Challah here and I really miss it.  Thanks to Betsy, JMK’s wife I now have a new recipe to bake some for myself.

td did you get THE FANTASTICKS - the Japan Tour, recording from Michael Shayne?  How is it?  I read the vocals aren’t as good as the original.

Not only that, but according to the Famous Hungarians site...
"Mitzi Gaynor has claimed to be descended from Hungarian nobility; on these occasions, she has stated that her real name is Francesca Mitzi von Gerber."

After the show Dear Reader Jose and I went to The Other Side.  No, not that Other Side, but rather a piano bar in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. ...
Been there, under a number of names.

No, I've always been known as Woody, but the bar was known as the Toy Tiger when I first dropped by.  It's also been called Houston's, and probably a few other things (but let's keep it polite).

From those who remember the Toy Tiger, one of the regular players there, Rudy De La Mar, can often be found at the OZZ supperclub in Orange County.  Either that, or he can be found in Chicago.  As for the favorite waitress/hostess at the time, Mary, a feisty little white-haired broad, last I heard she had retired to Palm Springs.

I’m sure the Gerber Baby food people would prefer we don’t know that. ;D

My sister had a friend who was on the Gerber food labels when she was a baby.  I wonder where her friend is today.

Jennifer I found this rosee sauce recipe.  I also found a site that sells packaged rosee sauce with parmesan cheese.

http://pasta.allrecipes.com/az/SauceRosee.asp

To me it is tomato sauce with cream, or what I thought was called pink sauce.

Actually, it's Rudy De La Mor.  And yes, he still appears at Ozz with his wild hats and wilder sense of humor.

Can any cooking people here tell me what you guys call rosee sauce (with an accent on the first e).

I know that is what we call it here.  But I'm trying to find a recipe for it. And it's only giving me french recipes.  So I was wondering if you guys have a different spelling. Thanks.

(it's the creamy tomato style sauce).
Oh, like French cooks are going to give you anything BUT?

Let's try something classical, a sauce Aurore.

This starts with a Sauce Veloute, which is a white stock (such as chicken or veal) that has been thickened with a butter roux.  James Peterson gives the following:  five cups stock to a roux made of two ounces butter and two ounces flour.  In one saucepan, bring the stock to a simmer.  In another saucepan, gently melt the butter and then add the flour, stirring over medium heat until the flour starts to smell pleasantly toasty.

Let the roux cool slightly for a minute, then whisk the stock into the roux.  Bring it all back to a simmer while whisking.  Let this gently cook for about an hour ( :o), then strain.

A classic Sauce Aurore takes three cups of Sauce Veloute and adds a cup of tomato puree.  Either reduce over low heat to thicken, or add a small amount of stock to thin.  Strain (again!), add 4 ounces of butter, and adjust the seasoning.  Makes about a quart of sauce.  ( :o :o)

Peterson was obviously writing for professional cooks.  You might want to cut down on the recipe size by reducing everything proportionately.

I only have this recording, because the first cd releases of the Original Off Broadway Cast were painfully transferred to cd with hideous results - too much high end, too little low, Rita sounded as if she were screeching, so I replaced that early cd with The Japan Tour, which has some good points mixed in with the bad.  I haven't heard the latest remaster of the original. . .

I just read an article on Playbill.com:  Republican Convention Hits Broadway Right in the Box Office!  It says that the RNC was bad for Broadway! :o Among all the stats, there is this one quote from producer Emanuel Azenberg:

"Other than Sept. 11, this is the single worst week on Broadway in half a century... You have to go back to the Kennedy assassination to find something that has hurt us as much as the Republicans have."

So, do you think that it's because Avenue Q wasn't on the "approved" RNC Broadway list?? ::)
