TOD:

This is not the self-reliant America  that I grew up in.  That America is long gone, and I fear for the country's survival.

My dad's not been in the best of health lately. Turns out he accidentally huffed some paint fumes, before disposing of some old cans, and that's what caused his problems. At 86.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Or get him into rehab.

Just grateful he's better now.

Greetings from Toyland!  I have my hair nicely coiffed, I've had some breakfast, I have printed outr three copies of the ROBERTA recording libretto with everything divided into optional tracks, amd I've printed and editorial work for the Moross estate. In a bit I'll bind the copies of the libretto for me, Rob Berman, and our producer Judy, who spoke glowingly last week about this Sondheim piano project that DR singdaw attended a couple of weeks ago.

I'll finish my orchestration and photocopy it shortly.  That's my day!

Sad news:

The lady I "back up" at work had a seizure Friday night.  She was airlifted to Stanford Medical Center where she was diagnosed as having blood clots on her brain.  She was partially paralyzed.

Yesterday, the doctors decided they had to operate to remove the clots.  The operation did not succeed and "Sharon" is essentially brain dead and on life support.  They are waiting for her son to arrive before removing life support.

We are all stunned.

I sincerely mourn the increasing lack of civility and courtesy in private and public discourse.
I try to be positive, but one only has to turn on the news or read the paper or online news sources to get mightily discouraged.

A "back-up" at my work is someone who does your job and hers or his while you are out.  I've been backing up the past week...and will continue to do so into the near future.

terrible.. and I  guess we Nook owners are going to be up the creek without a paddle

There had been talk about the eReaders becoming separate from the main store.  I'm not sure if they will stop making tablets or not, however, if they continue with eBooks we should be ok until our Nooks fall apart.  My library  has more and more Kindle options yet the majority of the books are still Nook friendly.  I might have to figure out how to use my Kindle app.

I watched the preview today and decided that I don't want to watch the movie.

We both enjoyed it very much and felt it deserved more recognition & Oscar nominations.

I also agree with DR Singdaw regarding a lack of civility and courtesy in private and public discourse.

Also:
I don't understand how a Politician can vote one way, but believe in something else personally.  I feel they have really compromised and settled.  I feel sorry for them.  They are truly misguided and need prayers.

I'm told rehearsal is on for this evening, but they're being cagey about the future, still.  I hate this crap, but I'll come in this evening and maybe get a feel for what's going on and then see if tomorrow's rehearsal call has been sent.
