Tomorrow I'm going to my friend's mother-in-law's 90th birthday party.   The invitation says "no gifts," but you know how that goes!

At 90, Unless they are gag gifts I would say no gifts or give something to her favorite charity.

DC Weather report:  we started the morning with torrential rain and flood warnings.   This afternoon, it was sunny, but comfortably cool.   I'm glad we're only expecting temps in the 70's for the next few days.

Thank you for the weather report.  I have been missing these.  I actually had to ask Craig if you had floods like they did in Baltimore.

Topic of the Day (addendum):  just arrived here at work from Amazon.com:  the first complete recording of One Touch of Venus.  Finally!

Terrible casting on this recording.  I hear the producer liked working with Ms Clark as much as I did.  God knows what she thinks she's doing since her performance of the comedy role is not very funny.

Well,  I have to disagree, at least in part!   I will say that I preferred Judy Blazer singing the title song and "Very, Very, Very" at the concert last October at Symphony Space over Ms. Clark.  But Melissa Errico is great, I think.  Not to mention Mr. B.

I think Brent is one of the biggest pieces of miscasting: no sense of innocence, naivete. A director might have fixed that, but I would never have cast him in that role. Maybe in Ron Raines' role.

I believe it is Rock Creek Park that Craig lives near.  The first day there we walked through it with him and we could see the water rising.  The next day he wouldn't even go into the park, said it gets too muddy.  It must be a mess by now.

Hello, everyone, from a still very hot LA.

I have a friend in San Clemente who doesn't have air conditioning, really no need for it, and the smoke from the Camp Pendleton fire is bad.  At least she has a fan as all her windows are closed.

Like Vixmom, I have been given lots of medical referrals. Mine is the result of not having had medical insurance in many, many years. Try as I might, I simply couldn't keep up while having to pay for it all myself. I'm pleased that my new doc consented to most of my referral requests, but it means a summer of medical appointments for me. Not fun, but needed. I'll take them in order of priority and try not to get "patient fatigue." One of them is the dreaded "C" procedure that Cilla and Jayson just had. That's at the bottom of the list.

Alexandria, VA, which is just across the river from DC. (Naval Research Lab, to be exact.)

My acupuncturist suggested I try some K-laser treatments for my back. After looking into it, I decided to give it a try and had my first one today. We'll see how this goes. It was a painless treatment and didn't take long at all.  And that, of course, is on top of all the referrals. Sigh.

Back!  Thanks, everyone, for your continued vibes and concern. The DH's experience was almost identical to DR Cillaliz's - one minor polyp removed; no big deal - and no grogginess.
The doctor even recommended a nearby Indian lunch buffet for our post-procedure celebration!       :)

Some people will go to great lengths for a good Indian meal.

Still feeling quite tender and bloated, DR elmore3003, but thanks for asking!      :)
Last night - since DR TCB didn't show up to do his solo - we worked on "Sue Me" which is a very funny song.  My actors did a terrific job with it.
