Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the opening of Abner, and now it is time for you to post until the opened cows come home.

Posted on Facebook from an audience member this evening:

Bravo to Bruce Kimmel, his musical director Wayne Moore, Choreographer Kay Cole & the utterly sensational cast of LIL' ABNER which opened a ridiculously short run tonight at LA City College. This is the best production I've ever seen of this show. Every member of the cast is stellar & two are absolute rip-the-roof off show stoppers (John Massey's Marryin'Sam & Barry Pearl's Gen'l Bullmoose.) Musical comedy deserves superlatives like "exuberant" and "joyous" and "adorable" and "delightful" and "knockout"...This production deserves all these and more. As an added treat, sat with a group that included the legendary Richard Sherman and chatted with him before the show & at intermission. Also saw my darling pal Gilmore Rizzo who I never see enough!

Anthony won't be doing anything for National Tap Dance Day on May 25th. We will be on Long Island that day for the long Memorial Day weekend.

His class will be having an "Adult Showcase" on June 7th. He's working hard on the routines he will be doing with his class. Because of the Memorial Day weekend there is no class this Sunday which is why we're heading out to Long Island. If Ant had class we would have stayed in town.

It's raining right now in Manhattan and it's supposed to rain today, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday!

Anthony is going out to LI today and I'm following tomorrow. We will relax and return on Monday.

The year is half over!!!

Good morning, all! I am ready for Day Two of the ROBERTA mix. The trip to Riverdale is a schlep for me: bus to 96th Street, transfer to No 1 subway to the end of its run,  because the subway platform is packed and I don't deal well with crowds and a cane.  There must have been a commencement ceremony yesterday morning; the platform was crowded with people in graduation robes. It's also hard to time the trip; yesterday morning's ride to Riverdale was 40 minutes, so I'm up early to leave the apartment earlier than usual.

Well, I'm embarrassed: I thought yesterday was LI'L ABNER'S preview and tonight was the opening. I'm happy it went well. I loved the photos.

So thrilled for everyone with the news of last night's successful opening performance of Abner.
Glad that the reality conformed to bk's hopes and expectations.

Absolutely loved all the great photos in today's notes.

Another op'nin', another show
In Philly, Boston or Baltimo',
A chance for stage folks to say hello,
Another op'nin' of another show.
Another job that you hope, at last,
Will make your future forget your past,
Another pain where the ulcers grow,
Another op'nin' of another show.
Four weeks, you rehearse and rehearse,
Three weeks and it couldn't be worse,
One week, will it ever be right?
Then out o' the hat, it's that big first night!
The overture is about to start,
You cross your fingers and hold your heart,
It's curtain time and away we go!

Good morning, all...

from the Danbury train station where we're being put on a damned bus to the connection at South Norwalk where we'd be changing trains anyway.

LI'L ABNER  BLOOPERS

TCM is showing a print of this film that is not properly cropped, revealing the full VistaVision frame. As a result, you can see the tops of sets, boom mics, lights, etc. Here are a few of the scenes, edited together and labeled.

DR TCB you cannot resign from the G/D show....you have been dropped.

Of course in the great tradition of community theatre, your name will still be in the already released news stories, and you and your song will still be in the program.

Thursday morning greetings!  At noon today, I'm going to the book discussion group at the library where I began my career and then shopping for bridal shower and wedding gifts for DN Lauren.  The weather forecast is much better today  8)
