Large weather yesterday.  And the new roof didn't seem any louder to me than the old roof....although someone who was there who wanted to tear the old roof off and put on a new shingled roof was holding his hands over his ears as if he was in pain from the "noise."

Good morning, all...

from the Danbury train station where we're being put on a damned bus to the connection at South Norwalk where we'd be changing trains anyway.

DR ChasSmith, be sure to find a seat at Trinity Church that will allow us to see you in the streaming video!  Looking forward to watching PRIMROSE!

TOD:

I assume we are talking about theatre openings:

The most exciting opening night I ever attended was for my play, LOMBARD, which we opened in Burbank (forget the name of the theater) on the 50th anniversary of Carole Lombard's death.

The press and several celebrities were there and, for an Equity waiver production, we got some sensational coverage.

TOD:

If you're talking about movie openings, I would have to say the premiere of MacARTHUR.  I went with my client, Dan O'Herlihy, who played "FDR" in the film.

Aside from the fact that I got to socialize with Gregory Peck, Jack Lemmon and other celebs there. I also picked up a new publicity client, Marj Dusay, who played "Mrs. MacArthur" in the picture.  It was a most memorable night.

Haven't been to any Broadway opening nights, but I think the best opening night I've ever been to was for "Stepping Out" at the Berkshire Theater festival. Marge Champion directed and was in the audience, along with Helen Hayes. I sat next to Ron Rifkin, who hadn't gotten a ticket for the sold-out opening and I had a spare. Plus, I enjoyed the show.

TOD - On October 5, 1971, during my senior year at Michigan, my friend Doug and I went to the gala opening of The Power Center for the Performing Arts.  There was much ceremony, including the awarding of honorary degrees to the likes of Helen Hayes and James Earl Jones (BA, Michigan, 1953), followed by a performance of THE GRASS HARP, starring Barbara Cook and Celeste Holm.  It was not well-received by the critics, but we had a great time.

DR TCB, SECOND CHANCE finally became available from my library and I will begin it this morning.  What is the true story behind this again?

I only have very vague recollections of any opening nights for High School plays that I was in, after all that was like, what, 5 - 10 years ago.

On the other hand, I still have fabulous memories of escorting actresses Laurie "Queen of Outer Space" Mitchell and Diana "Reform School Girl" Darrin to opening night of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X!

That whole night will always be a great memory for me...not only because the play was one of THE most entertaining I have ever been witness to, but because I met some amazing people including actors Hugh O'Brien and Cindy Williams, who were both in the audience...and I met for the first time several DRs including DR Mike (who was DR Michael Shayne, back then), DR Laura, not to mention E & T DRs Penny O, Sandra, Karen, MusicGuy, SingingNymph and Cason (who of course, starred in show), plus we dined with soap actor Kevin Spirtas, who was another performer in the show.

I'm up.  I was up at six for some unknown reason and then finally fell back asleep around seven-thirty, then woke up at ten and have been answering e-mails ever since.  I'm relaxing until matinee time.  Don't know how much writing I'll actually get done - I'm going to have a sandwich or something because I don't want to eat between shows because of the way they've scheduled them - one at three and one at seven-fifteen, which barely gives the cast an hour before their evening call time.  We told them the evening should be eight on a two-show day but the gentleman who runs the department put it back to seven-fifteen.

I'm glad to hear that BK was happy with last night's performance. Everyone around me was clearly enjoying it, just as I was.
