Having a couple if icy cold beers and tapas before the show. Excellent food but it's the chocolate cream stout that's making me really happy.

(  ps - bk, consider Cheyenne Jackson for the role of Abner in the Broadway transfer.   :)   )

I'd love to see Cheyenne do this, BUT did you get a good look at Evan, Sing?

LI'L ABNER DANCE PART TWO

Where is this from, DR Mike? The LACC show has a similar set, but risers in the back.

I had one of those days.  At least my car and I made it safely to the dealership.  Sometime tomorrow they will run a diagnostic and hopefully find out why the "take the car to the dealership" lights are on and why the car is doing screwing things.  They said it sounds like it is misfiring.  It jerks really hard, vibrates on and off, raced once, and when I got off of the freeway it felt like it was stalling.

Boy, was I relieved when I pulled into the dealership.

I walked to Baskin Robbins and got an ice cream cone, even got a full scoop vs my usual junior size.  Keith met me there instead of the dealership.

Sorry about your car, Jane. I'm glad you reached the dealer safely.

I'm shopping for a new one myself. I don't want a new one, but I need a new one. I'm shopping as much as possible online.

LI'L ABNER DANCE PART TWO

I just LOVE these photos...the sets and costumes, the lighting and the colors are so vibrant...it looks thoroughly professional.

Just wish I could one day HEAR the score as LACC is doing it!!

This is not from our production.

Had a very good and productive work session, then a meatless Cobb salad and a bagel, then did some banking and came home to another love letter review on Broadway World - the version of this review that's on the reviewer's own site is a Critic's Pick.

DR Jeanne, I have no dubt David's orchestrations are fantastic. I've been a fan of his for a long time. We both worked on the 1999 Radio City Christmas Show, and I loved his work for that.

And I am home from the wars!

Those HHW vibes work, and I send thanks and love to all you DRs who sent them my way today!  We got through all of the body of Act Two by 7:00 tonight (14 numbers), and we have only to finish up three Appendix numbers, Exit Music, and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" (non-show version). Things went so smoothly, it was scary.

For those not-so DRs, next time you ask me for vibes, remember: this elephant never forgets!

The Guthrie - a great regional theater - is producing My Fair Lady this summer. I'm going to have to go, because I am embarrassed to admit that I have never seen the film, or a stage production of the show.
And I have wanted to see the Guthrie, so - it's a no-brainer.

DR Singdaw, you are in for a treat!  Well, concerning MY FAIR LADY, anyway - I've never seen The Guthrie.  I've seen MFL at least 3 times on stage and the film countless times and I always cry at the end.

I always cry, too.  I was certainly shocked when Eliza died.

From DR TCB:
Quote
Jane, in SECOND WATCH, J D Beaumont is haunted by some memories of his days in Viet Nam; and his guilt for not following up on the fiance of his platoon leader who was killed.  The fiance is my cousin, Bonnie Abney.  The platoon leader was her real fiance who was killed in Viet Nam.

Do you know if anymore of the story pertaining to this is true?

Years ago I read a book by Jance and didn't want to read anymore.  I enjoyed this very much, except that she refers to the black & white Bernese Mt. Dog.  I think she was confusing a Landseer with a Berner.

I got a kick out of the Ashland references.

Wel, Judy (J A Jance) actually went to high school with Bonnie's fiance, and she knew him very well.  Is that what you meant?

Partially. I know the character of her fiance was also real.  Did anyone from the war who knew Bonnie's fiance look her up with the same story to tell as in the book?
