This afternoon my niece will swim in the finals in backstroke, front crawl and probably relay (the coach is only telling them today). She finished 2nd in both in the semi-finals. Two weeks ago I was hoping she could win at least one event (she has never come in first in any races at this level).  But now after her chickenpox I am just really hoping that she will have enough energy to be as competitive as she usually is. She seems to be getting her energy back everyday. But it is just impossible to know if she is 100%. It takes a lot of energy to go all out.  Fingers crossed.

The good news is that the meet is at her pool (which is only 10 minutes away).  Although they are not racing in the same pool they practice in.

I won't be around much this weekend.  Today we will be with friends and tomorrow is just a romantic day for us as it is our 45th anniversary.

I think I am a bit in shock over the number, almost as much as I'm in shock over my age ;D

Has anyone heard of this bookstore in Harrisburg, PA, or even been there?  I keep picking up their brochure (which is impressive, with pictures I'm not seeing on the web site) whenever I'm on the road, and I was half thinking of stopping in there tomorrow to check it out since this is a fairly leisurely car trip in which I could afford some extra time.  On the other hand, I might just drive over another day to give myself a proper amount of time to browse, eat, etc.  But we'll see.

I'm driving over to Morgantown WV tomorrow, btw -- in case anyone had somehow forgotten that! -- and returning on Monday.  Just a quick visit to my (let's see) wife of first cousin once removed.  (Thank you, genealogy program.)

Saturday morning greetings!  Just checking in to say I'll be away all afternoon attending Mary Linda's company picnic at Sharon Woods in Cincinnati.  Rob has to work today and she wanted some company.  It's a bee-yoo-tee-ful day to be outside!

I haven't heard of the bookstore, DR ChasSmith, but it looks great from their Facebook page:

DR elmore3003 - have you had any further information about the timing of your bathroom ceiling repair?

I'm up, I'm up - I was up at five for a while, too.  Maybe I got five hours of sleep in there somewhere between two and eight-thirty.

Last night's event was free - that's what was galling - thirty people could have seen it and yet didn't thanks to the no-shows who didn't cancel.
