I am not a juke box musical fan  but  I know a number of people who sawBeautiful and they all loved it

I loved the BEAUTIFUL sequence; my CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER producer is in the ensemble.

That's cool, Larry!

So why wasn't Aladdin a revival? It was a movie.

New script and songs for the live version. Plus the old songs.

AND it's never been a stage musical before.  I think that that's the real reason.

Both "Hedwig" and "Little Shop" had been around a long time and had movies made from the stage musicals.

elmore, have you seen Beautiful?

I would like to. My priority is A GENTLEMAN's GUIDE; when it was on TDF, I couldn't afford a ticket.  Now it's no longer on TDF.

Violet is a revival?  I thought it was new ...

The original off-Broadway production was in 1998.  There also was a recording made of that production.

It doesn't affect THE MUSIC MAN as a scoore or show, and I've seen much much  lousier arrangements of musical numbers in revisals and on recordings.

And now for something completely different...35 Of The Most Concerning Autocorrect Fails Of All Time.  I don't know if they're real, but they're pretty darned damned funny! :D

Lots of folks love the Bridges score - I've only heard one song from it - they posted Kelli O'Hara recording it - when they trumpet that it's one of the most thrilling and ravishing theater songs ever, that's what I kind of want to hear.  It wasn't that.  It wasn't close.  It was okay, like most of his stuff.  I've actually never loved any of his stuff - I kind of like a few things.  The previous musical that got all those "ravishing" and "thrilling" comments was Light in the Piazza - and I really didn't like that.  So, that's one person's opinion of one song.  Again, most folks I've talked to feel as Cilla does.

I had a Subway Club for lunch, some popcorn and some low-cal low-fat ice cream.  Under 1200 calories for sure, probably closer to 1000 and I'll try to keep it to that.  We shall see.
