At this moment a 14 pound pussycat is sprawled out on my lap whilst I am trying to type. I am now being directed to rub the belly of the beast!

Bogie also loves his belly rubbed.  He is a bit smaller than Fredie at just a little over 12 pounds.  He isn't a big eater.

Got a great package of David Gest stuff today referencing FF.  His signature is so very, very mannered it is not to be believed.

And, there must be something in the air (oxygen, perhaps?--though not much of that in LA  ::) )--after my post yesterday about the two upcoming books at least tangentially related to FF, I got an email this morning from a third author who is working on a book about 30s/40s Hollywood and wants to reference my FF article.  I'm going to have to start charging a consultant's fee.  :)

Evening all!  Thank you for the good wishes and the vibes for getting us through the storm.  Two down maybe one more to go if Ivan has his way.  I still want to know who’s bright idea it was to name hurricanes after men.  Who ever heard of a “Him”icane anyway?  :D

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday to DR William E. Lurie!!!  Many, many, many more!

And lest I forget:

It is now Tuesday 9/7/2004 at 7:49:12 PM
Event: DR Laura’s  25th wedding anniversary!
Scheduled For 9/7/1979  12:00:00 PM
25 years 7 hours 49 minutes 12 seconds or
1,305 weekends or
9,132 days or
219,175 hours (146,117 waking hours) or
13,150,549 minutes or
789,032,952 seconds

Of wedded bliss!  I had to go with noon because I didn’t know the exact time.

Favorite line:

I can’t remember the actor but it was from Disneys, The Black Hole and it’s a classic blooper that somehow got pass just about everyone.

Hey, could someone here do me a small favor.

On the middle of this page it says Customer Service:
http://www.e-waterbeds.com/contact.htm

There is a link that says "email", but my computer won't allow me to use it.  Can someone just tell me what the email address is.

THANKS.

Someone may have done this for you already, Jennifer,  but here it is just in case:

Sorry, DR Jane,  I'm reading from the begining of the thread and didn't see your question until I posted the above.

I didn't see hardly any damage at all.  A few trees down but nothing horrible.

When I got to work, I heard that some people still don't have power and won't until the end of the week!   Ugh!  I'm so glad that didn't happen to me.  I think I would have gone mad.

Not many people on the road at all but I did sight a convoy of police cars (at least 25) moving East on I-4.  All of them had their flashing lights on but I don't know why.

There was lovely sunshine everywhere now that the three day holiday weekend is over and it's back to work time.

You know that I wanted to transfer all of my videos I shot while on my trips on DVD.  Well, I bought the cable.  Waited for said cable to come in the mail  Lost video camera (well, not lost, lost--just put it someplace safe.  It was very safe, trust me. Two hours later worth of safe.) Found video camera.  Misplaced new cable.  (Think 2nd safe place).  Found cable.  Tried to hook video camera up to computer using found cable.  Found I had the wrong cable.  Cried.   Swore.  Did a little dance.  Wrong cable still did not work.  Ordered new cable from E-bay last night.   Will NOT put video camera in a safe place in the mean time.  Waiting on new cable from E-bay.  Will update you when new cable arrives.  Sigh.

What lovely postings, and so many.  I've been dealing with a lot of merde today, but I'm told that soon the merde will lessen and lessen until I am merde-free, which is, after all, what we all strive for.  I went to the gym and did forty-five minutes on the bike, going app. 24 miles and burning app. 230 calories.

Wow, Bruce, your faster than a speeding hurricane!  Even Frances didn't go that fast!  And that's the truth!

Jane,  I HATE it when I do that!  Sometimes I even tell myself that I will never remember where that safe place is but I do it anyway.

I guess I should also have changed part of that to read "Ordered RIGHT cable (not the LEFT)".   :D

I don't always remember where the "safe place" is so you are better than I am.

Often I can remember where an item was kept several houses ago but not always where it is in the current house.

A big hello and welcome back to William F. Orr!!!!!

Glad to see DR Ben back again as well!  I sent you a thank you card for the CD but I must have misread your address and it came back to me.  Sorry!

Somebody spoke about cake.  I had some today.  It was one of the ladies in our departments B-day.

I also had a cup of coffee (Bleck! Pooie!) called “Angels Kiss”.  I try so hard to like coffee but it all tastes so horrible.  So bitter, yuck.

This was supposed to taste like chocolate, nuts and coconut.  It sounded good.   I put half and half and tons of sugar (make that Splenda) in it but I still had to throw it away.  If that’s what an Angels kiss  is like then I don’t want one kissing me!  :(

How is Mr. Mark Bakalor and baby doing?  I hope everyone is happy and well.

Last Panni mentioned elmore his book cases had collapsed.  I’m happy to report they have been bolted to the wall and he is having a bit of fun cleaning out books and crap he no longer needs, but it goes slowly.  Nothing else has really changed.

Danise, Bryan (older son) often tries to coax me into tasting sweet coffee concoctions.  I have learned to say no.   :P

Happy birthday, Dear Reader William E. Lurie!

My parents are out of town, so until they get back, my brother and I are alone in the house. Anything can happen.

I should start my homework. I won't... but I should.

Oh, and I quote Crazy Bus from Arthur, which drives my brother crazy. And my fencing class likes to quote The Princess Bride. And we try to act out the part where they're fencing on the cliff, but it's not so easy when you don't have a cliff.

Haven't done famous Hungarians for some time...

Max Kiss  - Pharmacist / Inventor of Ex-Lax

"In the early 1900s, Max Kiss, a Hungarian immigrant who lived in Brooklyn and was trained as a pharmacist, decided to create a laxative with a pleasant flavor. The only laxatives available at that time were liquids with a bitter taste. Kiss combined phenolphthalein, a chemical that relaxed the intestines, with chocolate. The origins of its active ingredient, phenolphthalein, are unclear. One theory is that its laxative qualities were discovered accidentally in 1902 by Hungarians considering using it as an additive for wines.

Kiss first called his new chocolate tablets Bo-Bos, but one afternoon he happened to read in the local Hungarian language newspaper about a deadlock in Hungary's parliament. The Hungarian words for "parliamentary deadlock" are sometimes shortened to "ex-lax" in print. Kiss thought it sounded like "excellent laxative!" He launched his company and new product in 1906 and called it Ex-Lax. Today, Ex-Lax is the best-selling chocolate laxative and the second best-selling laxative overall."

I think the one thing that has truly bugged me during my time out here in L.A. so far is that no one seems to know about nor follow the "Stand to the Right, Pass of the Left" rule when it comes to using escalators.  Is it only a mid-West and East Coast thing?  Is it because L.A. is "traditionally" not a walking city?

Jose,

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Toronto has an underground city, connected with escalators. And nobody follows the sttr, potl etiquette. Drives me nuts. And when I politely ahem, I usually get a look.

I'd love for you to visit Toronto, BTW. I'd discover all the best routes and the best bakeries. It's a pleasure to read about your days and nights in LA.

I wonder if part of the etiquette depends on how long the excalators have been in use.  London, Munich, both had the etiquette in effect when der B and I were there.  Los Angeles hasn't had it's subways for very long, so the traditions aren't there.

Actually, it is the "House of Seven Beagles", a treatment Panni is doing for Disney.
Don't listen to him, Panni.  Everyone knows there's only three Beagle Boys.

THE FLETCHER CHRONICLES:

Fletcher is the first dog we've ever had who likes to play fetch!

He likes to have his rope bone thrown for him, which he bounds after, then bounds back with the bone in his mouth, all for the joy of my wrestling it from him and throwing it again.

Adding the the fun is that Fletcher is also a klutz.  His feet end up going in one or two directions, while the rest heads off on a third.  The joys of puppyhood.

Why it has taken us ten dogs to find one that likes playing fetch doesn't make sense.  But it is fun.

Meanwhile, in Ken Russell's WOMEN IN LOVE:
Ursula:  "You can't have two kinds of love, why should you?"
Rupert:  "It seems as if I can't, yet, I wanted it."
Ursula:  "You can't have it because it's impossible."
Long Pause
Rupert:  "I don't believe that."
