You say Grenada, I say Granada... DR FJL could do wonders with this:

When the dentist received his E-ticket, didn't he notice a different spelling for Granada? Before i'd ever call for an airlines ticket, I'd go online and see what flights I was happiest with.

I am home from market, and I have an inquiry for any alcohol connoisseurs. I need to buy  really fine bottle of something Eastern European or Russian. Any recommendations for a really good vodka, slivovitz or something I might not even know about?

I know very little, actually.

Ack! Ack!

Went to my dentist yesterday because one of my crowns came off.

She looked at it and said, "The build-up broke!  That's not supposed to happen!"

My dentist doesn't do endodontics.  This crown was placed on a build-up another dentist had done along with a root canal back in 2007 (she had referred me to this endodontist).  She got on the phone with his office and told them what happened.

I have an appointment this afternoon at that office for a continuation of "Why did this crown come off and why didn't the build-up hold?"

Sigh.

On the brighter side, my dentist was able to put something on the remaining build-up to protect my tongue which had been mercilessly exposed to a sharp edge since Saturday afternoon.

Am healing.

Why not a bottle of that stuff Elliott Templeton was raving about in front of Sophie in "The Razor's Edge":

"Żubrówka [ʐuˈbrufka] ( listen), also known in English as Bison Grass Vodka, is a dry, herb-flavored vodka that is distilled from rye and bottled at 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof). Its flavor is unique and is described as having woodruff, vanilla, coconut, and almond notes.

"The rye distillate is flavored with a tincture of bison grass (Hierochloe odorata), which also gives the spirit its yellowish color. This grass grows in the Białowieża Forest and elsewhere. A blade of bison grass is traditionally placed in each bottle of Żubrówka, though this is largely decorative."

What I hate on Facebook:  Someone posts an opinion and someone responds in an attacking manner with not just an opposite opinion but with character assassination as well.  And not for the person who posted the opinion but for everyone who thinks like he does.

Thank you, DR Ron Pulliam! I will investigate.

So, my super stopped by, said the plaster was still drying and that he'd finish things tomorrow. I can't tell, but what do i know about construction? It looks like i won't hit Toyland until Saturday now.

On top of that, this person, not content with having eviscerated the poster and anyone who agrees with him, continues to post in the same thread - post after post - ravings and ravings as to why he is right and everyone else is wrong.

Speaking of plaster and paint and all such things drying, I'm in a similar process with a couple of columns (that makes them sound grandiose -- they're nothing of the sort) on my house.  They sorely needed repainting and the other day I starting sanding and (with the help of a knowledgeable friend of a friend) caulking, and now they're ready for a coat of primer.  I'll be doing that this afternoon, and if it dries in good time, I'll do a second coat.  Finally, the painting will happen.  When it happens.  Listen to me, I'm channeling DR Elmore's super!

Good morning. I overslept today -- until 5 a.m. So a short hike around the hills instead of the mountain today.

Ron, you would not believe how many of those are up now.  The latest is a bunch of musicians pull over and play for the cows - you won't believe what happened next.  Just ludicrous.  This is what we've devolved to.

Oy, the latest FB craze which has driven me absolutely bonkers is the non-stop array of "What Harry Potter Character are You?"-esque formula queries, the answers to which they determine in 6 or so random, multiple choice questions. I'll admit to doing a couple in the beginning when they first started to appear quietly, but now everyday there are 20 or more gorging the Newsfeed, asking anything and everything under the ridiculous sun:
What color Are you? What spirit animal are you? What kind of soul are you? What national park are you?... ad naseum.
You need a half-assed app to tell you who you are?  Yipes.  ::)

I'm just waiting for the next batch:
What kind of roadkill are you?
What disease are you?
And, of course - What kind of idiot are you to keep clicking these moronic posts?

On another topic:
BK, I saw that film, "Olympus Has Fallen". What a ridiculous mess that was. not believable for a minute. Just blowing up everything in sight. At least "White House Down" made a little more sense, even though it didn't make more money.  Oy again.

Hope your dental adventures are progressing without problems.

My tooth extraction last week has altered the way I eat for a while. I now chew on the right side and I place things in my mouth with a fork or spoon or my fingers (when I break up large pieces of food) instead of just biting. No sandwiches or burgers or other kinds of food that I would usually just bite and chew. I have to cut things into smaller pieces so I don't use the extraction site to bite and chew. That would cause undue pressure on the site and possibly harm the "wound". I've been eating jello, yogurt, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes and other softer foods while I wean myself back to regular food. The tooth was in the front, not either of the front teeth but one next to the front and I have to be careful of how I eat and chew while the extraction site heals (2 to 3 months). Once it's healed over the dentist will continue with work on a bridge (no implant). Until then I will have two other teeth repaired.

A local - to Greencastle where the theatre is - young man was killed yesterday when the backhoe he was driving on the family farm overturned.  He was thrown from the cab, and the machinery landed on him.

Very sad - even sadder are the folks on Facebook who are making the accident all about their own feelings about the event.

That's horrible. :(

After seeing a Facebook hint over the weekend, I received reliable confirmation this morning that my former co-worker Leon has passed away.  He was the nonprofit outreach librarian with whom I started working in 2000 and who handed me that job when he retired in 2003.  He was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed in the Dayton community.

Ginny, my condolences on the loss of your former co-worker.
