You say Carmina (short i)
I say Carmina (long i)
You say Burana (eena)
I say Burana (ahna)
Let's call the whole thing Orff

Orff, orff, orff!

Shouldn't it be, "Let's Carl the whole thing Orff"?

;)

Very good, DR George!

In my CD player right now, the second act of Kristina: At Carnegie Hall

Right after that will be Diane Schuur's brand new CD, I Remember You (with love to Stan and Frank).  I got to meet her when I was in college!

I am home. I thank those of you kind and generous enough to send vibes! They were excellent, and things went amazingly well. I wasn't sure, and there were several intense and tense moments, but we got through everything with time to spare. I really believe things would not have gone well without your good wishes.

I am very glad & relieved for you :)

Thanks! It's a huge relief. This whole recording has been an ordeal. I'm very happy with it, but it has not been an easy recording with too many pieces to assemble: stage band, orchestra, dialogues and vocals from Dublin and Manhattan; too many pieces of the puzzle to risk dropping one.  After this epic, anther like EILEEN or DEAREST ENEMY will be a breeze!

We have much to watch on our DVR, however, I don't have a clue what we shall watch tonight.

I am extremely relieved I am done reading CLOUD ATLAS.  I was so uninterested in the middle chapters I read without absorbing-lol

I'm deciding which library book to begin, the shorter & 1st one listed that I need to read by the 8th for my book group or the longer book I want to begin.

Tonight we are seeing Ruby Rims!

I know him from my Gift Bag work and I know of his long history performing in the 70s and 80s but I've never seen one of his shows. I'm looking forward to the evening

Ruby Rims

Wow!  I would love to see him.

Great Performances is broadcasting the Met's La Boheme tonight. So heartbreaking, that score just grabs me by the throat and throttles me. So many great melodies and shattering moments.

I just heard on the news that Amy Adams was on a flight today, and she gave up her First Class seat to a serviceman.

I would say that she is a First-Class Act!!

We just came from delivering a wedding present to DN Lauren and Jim.  They were very pleased with the Cutco items that we had inscribed with their names and wedding date.  I put the kitchen shears in a "scissor sock" that my Mom made out of a potholder that Richard's Mom (Lauren's grandmother) made.

I like your gift Ginny.  Tell them to be very careful not to cut themselves on those new Cutco knives.  I say this from experience.  ;D

Breaking News

I have been worried that SnubNose has been downplaying how bad the flooding was around him.  So, this morning I sent my personal drone up over Minnesota -- and this is what I saw!

I read that earlier, too.  That's pretty cool.

Well, I'm off.  I'm going to pick up my friend and her daughter from the airport.  I have to get her van first, though.  The good part is that she has a CD player (I don't have one in my car), so I have to pick something to listen to on the way up.  Their flight comes in at about 9:20 pm, so I'm sure that they won't want to listen to something on the way back home.  Anyway, I'm outta here!

Just before I left, talked to the attorney - he'd given them until today to respond and, smartly, they did.  Not what we wanted, of course, just a response saying that within a week's time everything would be wrapped up and that all further correspondence needed to be sent to the District's legal counsel.  The attorney replied that yes, that's what it needed to be, and that any response to me within the week's time had to go to him.  It's his opinion that they understand what's at stake here, but who knows.  He's going to call them on Tuesday, although we'll discuss whether we should give them the week they've mentioned.  Either way, however this is going to play out it will play out shortly.  He doesn't think that initially they will give me what I'm asking for, but he does think eventually I'll get it.
