TOD: When I lived in Port Charlotte, Fla., I would frequent a place called Thai Cafe and became friends with the owners, Sam and Nancy. The food was fantastic, especially during stone crab season, when they would make their usual dishes with tiny stone crab claws.
Nancy also made these amazing Thai donuts using rice flour and they were served steaming hot from the fryer. You'd then dip them in a vanilla glaze with peanuts in them and practically gorge yourself on the richness.
They moved to Sarasota and then on to LA about a year after I moved to San Antonio. That's about when I lost touch with them.
