Good morning, all! I slept late, and I am cleaning the apartment. This will continue tomorrow, as I try to put everything back in place. The bathroom and kitchen rugs are in the washer and I will very shortly mop the floors.

I'm listening to the final mix, and I think it's sounding very nice. I'm grateful to Judy Sherman, Jeanne Velonis, and John Kilgore in Manhattan, Brian Masterson, Naomi MacLeod, Joe Csibi, and Jonathan Ford in Dublin for making my life easier and production so smooth! I'm also very grateful to all of you who sent vibes for the emotional support. I'm keeping the names of those who didn't for the next time they ask for vibes.

DR TCB, I am quite fond of RENT, which surprised me, since I went into the theatre prepared to hate it.  There are a couple of dud numbers ("Over the Moon"), but I like a great deal of the score, I liked the original staging, and it moved me. I much prefer it to La Boheme over Disney's version of Verdi's Aïda.

As to Light in The Piazza. I thought it was quite beautiful but I preferred Floyd Collins, which was stunning. I am not a great fan of Adam's music; I don't think he's as good with a tune as his mother and grandfather, but he writes in a completely different mode, and I prefer it less.

TOD (preview version):

VERY difficult to answer; in fact, choosing one restaurant would be impossible.  I will have to narrow it down to a few places in each of the areas I've lived in or visited a lot -- and believe me, that's still almost as difficult as going for only one.  There's something very special about the way our long gone favorite eateries touch us.  The first posts here have already been helpful, and of course you KNOW from my various postings over the past couple of years that the Hamburger Hamlet will make an appearance.  For now, I'm about to start another crazy day, so won't be around till much later.

To Be Continued...

I'm up - I was, for once, having really fun dreams, but off the alarm went - and I still don't know if today is Evil Eye day or not - if not, back to bed for me.  Should know in ten minutes or so.

Yep! I asked the super on Thursday, and he said the landlord is aware. I'll send him an email on Monday. I suspect that their appliance repair folk are answering demands for air conditioner repair at the moment.

Well, I may have been wrong about Evil Eye.  Usually she's parked out front by now.  If she's not here in seven minutes then I have my answer and I'll see if I can get back to sleep.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  I've cleaned and sliced strawberries, unloaded the dishwasher, walked in the basement, and folded laundry.  Also, chatted on the phone with Rob about the stalled progress upstairs and about the bachelor party he's attending tonight for Lauren's groom Jim.

Floors are mopped, and rugs in the dryer.  I've got fixes to make in the copy going to New World Records, and then after a second listen to ROBERTA, I will take a cool bath. I've got a dress rehearsal at 5:00 for Arlo Hill's Frank Loesser show at 54 Below.

It is a bit muggy out. We walked 2+ miles at a good rate, and are now thoroughly sweaty.

TOD (2):

There was a restaurant on the Sunset Strip that I liked.  I don't recall the name, but the building it occupied used to be John Barrymore's guest house.  Indeed, Barrymore pictures adorned all the walls.

Anybody recall the name of the place?

From Bruce:

.....ignoring the clearly written in English posts that it in fact wasn’t closing permanently – it was closing for a week to transition to its new owners and that it would remain Hamburger Hamlet.

I had not read the article yet, only the headlines.  All I can find now is that it is closing.  Where did you read it is temporary?  I can't find anything that says it will reopen?

Never mind.  I see where that was by word of mouth to you :)

I found the answer on Google.

The restaurant was called Butterfield's.

DR elmore, I am so glad that things went so well yesterday.  It must be a huge relief.  I can't wait for the CD to be released.

As for RENT, you surprised me.  I absolutely hated RENT, and I went in to the theater expecting to love it.  Horse racing!

DR TCB, the same thing happened in 1980 with the Central Park production of The Pirates of Penzance. I was leery going into it, and fell in love with it. Sawit twice in the Park and twice on Broadway. Go figure!

I think ROBERTA's going to be good. After listening a couple of times to it today, I credit the HHW vibes and support for it and the ceiling repair for taking what was okay, maybe a little more than passable, after May's mix to something really special. I'm very grateful.

This weekend is the famous, or infamous, Taste of Tacoma.  It began yesterday, but it was overcast and a little stormy with some showers off and on all day.  It didn't seem like attendance ever did pick up, and last night around the time it closes for the night, there was no rush of cars leaving the park.  Today, our newpaper politely noted that the festival started slowly!

This morning the Taste opened at 11:00, but it was pouring rain.  Finally the rain has stopped and we are starting to get blue skies, so hopefully the crowds will start turning out.

I loved the production of PIRATES when it went to Broadway.  I think it had the same cast.
