While Lauren expected a staid dance like in the previous photo, Uncle Richard surprised her with some twirls:

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Oh, dear, it appears that I didn't log off yesterday when we left for the wedding.  I may have looked like I was sitting here like so much fish, but I actually was having a grand time.  Here we are, well into the reception after almost 8 hours.  We look a little wilted because we were tired and it was pretty warm inside the reception venue.

you don't look wilted at  all you look wonderful!

I also had the honor of helping the mother of the bride get Lauren into her dress:

Yes, DR Vixmom, Richard looks very different without his beard.  It disappeared back in February, about the time he started using a sleep mask to treat his apnea.  He doesn't look so much like his late brother John without the beard, which for yesterday was probably a good thing.

Skip is now on the train on his way to today's performance.

I've been reading him the posts which mention Herringbone, and send so many thanks for them.

Well DR JANE....the two events are connected.  The payroll taxes are just too much...and other government required taxes just make it difficult to stay open.

Since her husband died, there hasn't been his extra income to keep the household going....so some of the store $$ had to go there....and we just don't bring in enough to break even....so it was a little more debt every month.

So we may close this week OR the end of the month....we shall see what happens.

I should have made the musicians a deal breaker, but it was like beating my head against a brick wall and I just got tired of it - I warned them then what would happen and I was right.  The minute I stepped into the rehearsal with the band I knew we were in deed merde and I even said so then.  And from minute one in the sessions everyone knew they should have listened to me.  I remained calm and got us through it, and we performed miracles to save stuff in the mix, but after the first day of recording I told them we'd be back rerecording stuff and that it would probably now cost more than it would have had we done it with the right people in the first place.

Friends of mine posted this on Facebook...it's too good to not share.

Restaurant Watches Old Surveillance And Shares Shocking Results On Craigslist

Quote
A busy NYC restaurant kept getting bad reviews for slow service, so they hired a firm to investigate. When they compared footage from 2004 to footage from 2014, they made some pretty startling discoveries. So shocking, in fact, that they ranted about it on Craigslist!

If you haven't read this, I highly recommend it.

BK...you've been ranting about this sort of thing for a long time.  Now, there's PROOF! ;)

DR George, I loved this! What is it with all the damned food photos? I have one FB friend who posts nothing but photos of his vegan meals, at least two a day. WTF?  What is the point of a photo of a plate of food? Uneaten or half-eaten? Really?

I have another friend who posts nothing but photos of himself scowling, looking foolish, looking smug, looking moronic, looking elated, occasionally in some activity, and occasionally half-dressed; NOTE: put your shirt back on (actors, oy!). What looked good 20 years ago may not today.

For some of us, it's a living.

Skip's (and Ellen's and Tom's) show HERRINGBONE in Philly got a terrific review from Toby Zinman, the critic for the Inquirer, which seems to be the main paper for theater there.

Review: HERRINGBONE

POSTED: SUNDAY, JULY 13, 2014, 9:32 AM
By Toby Zinman
For the Inquirer
Flashpoint Theatre does it again: the second show of their summer
season (following their opener, Miz Martha) is a knockout, with Ben
Dibble giving a performance of stunning virtuosity. Herringbone is a
strange and compelling musical by anybody's standards.

That's great, FJL. Thanks for sharing it. Sending congratulations to Skip.
