Too bad.  It would also be company for her to have someone drop in twice a day.

She would find that very invasive, especially from a stranger.

I'm going to bed to read a book and not think about Mom for a while.  Then, I'm going to Lima with Richard tomorrow.

'night!

Just talked to the family. All but me are in Louisville this weekend, which is good because it will help Mom and Dad overlook the car situation. Apparently, Dad's ready to go get a car on Monday. He doesn't want to deal with anyone on Craigslist, though, and he's been saving up for the purchase, so it looks like a new used car is in their future.

He has his eye on a Camry or a Honda of some sort. Nice.

Nice to know he wanted a new car :)

Are they still feeling good?

Yes, they are still feeling fine, though I think a houseful of people today will wear them out.

Remind me where Rebozo's was.  Just one location, right?

DR John G, I was surprised how much the Audi dealer was willing to negotiate, even on a used car. The salesman told me later that $300-500 is common for them. I hope your parents get a good deal.

I found cargurus.com a useful site. They have listings for local areas and rate them as to value--"great bargain," "good deal," "overpriced," etc. It gave me a good perspective before setting foot at the dealers.

I'll pass that along to my sister, who's going to help them.

Rebozo's was directly next door to what was originally the Rancho Playhouse on Pico some blocks east of Overland - the Rancho became the Century City Playhouse where Bleacher Bums ran for years.  Not sure at what point Rebozo's bit the dust.

Eating my favorite cracker right now.  I really didn't think they made it anymore, but I found it on amazon and ordered it - six boxes in one large container.  The cracker is as good as I remembered.

Watching a odd little play called Sea Marks with George Hearn as an Irishman who falls in love with a woman he sees at a wedding. They start swapping letters and finally meet. But they seem to communicate by letter than in person.

steak and kidney pie and chips for Vixdad

steak and onion pie and chips for me

Vixdad had a deep fried Mars bar and a scoop of vanilla ice cream  for his "pudding"

I had  sticky toffee pudding with homemade whipped cream -- and a cuppa Yorkshire Gold tea

I thought Vixdad didn't like kidney pie?

Just back from seeing HERRINGBONE in Philly, which I loved as much as i expected to.

Culture shock going from Philadelphia, which felt so quiet already at 10:15 and stepping out of the train in NYC to all the noise of a city that never sleeps, at least on weekends.

SEA MARKS was written by the late actor Gardner McKay.
