Topic of the Day: England...mainly because they speak English there, and it's close to Germany where my mom is from and I could visit them more often than now, which is never. The last time I was in Germany was when I was seven years old. My dad was in the army and stationed there.

I'm wondering what's up with these omelets in which the cheese must be discerned, as opposed to getting blatantly displayed for all the world to see.

Is there an asterisk on the word cheese, with the word "discernible" appearing in very small type at the bottom? Is the word "discernible" discernible?

I don't think I'd want to live in a country other than the United States.

However, if I had a time machine, I would opt to live in the US of 50-60 years ago when the Government was not so intrusive in individuals' lives and did not stifle opportunities to get ahead.

TOD: Southern Portugal would probably be at the top of my list. I find the Portuguese language easy to pick up, plus there are so many retired Brits there that English is never too far away. But the Atlantic coast is just beautiful, the living isn't too fast paced (I was there in the off season, my mind may change if I were there in summer), the food is extraordinary, and the people are helpful and respectful without being phony.

Other places under consideration: the isle of Rhodes, Brazil, Spain's Costa del Sol ... yes, I like coastal places.

Tomorrow I see the orthopedic surgeon to see what has to be done on my knee
According to the MRI results:
1) Tear involving the posterior horn of the medial meniscus (i'll never play music again)
2) Intrasubstance injury involving the lateral meniscus
3) Joint effusion

TOD: Easy one -- England, preferably London. Language, history, theatre. I lived there for three months in the early eighties. and I've been back to visit it close to twenty times over the years. I immediately feel I'm home once I'm there.

There should be an MTA ruling if you are bigger than a house, need to take up two seats for your largesse and your tote bag since you have no lap and won't store it under your seat, and you insist - because you are a really fat slob - to infringe on the third seat so the old coot next to you is uncomfortable, then you should pay for two effin seats. Or die.
