My boss is proposing we play human foosball, as if we were the people on the sticks in a tabletop foosball game.

I think my boss needs a margarita.

I think he has already  had too many

OK I think maybe your boss' idea might be fun

I think so, too. The woman next to me at work suggested combining the game with beer pong. I'm there.

The State of Virginia assesses personal property taxes on automobiles.  That was another surprise for me when I moved here from NY State.

how does that work?  Is it based on the value of the car?

Yes, DR vixmom.  I get a bill every year.  The tax used to be a lot higher but a former Governor lowered the rate.  And some cities or counties issue a sticker for your windshield to prove you paid.  My county eliminated that several years ago.

DR vixmom - you don't have to own real estate. Vehicles are taxed separately as personal property.

We watched Philomena (loved it) and have just started in on August: Osage County. I don't think we'll make it all the way through before we collapse from exhaustion.

Went out for Salvadoran tonight. Shouldn't have. The food was great, but the carb overload was even greater and it's made me very cranky tonight.

As promised, here is a photo of the newly-installed wet bar.  It's 98% complete and fully operational.  A carpenter will come to put the finishing endpiece on the countertop and to repair the baseboard.  We are very pleased!

Very nice, Ginny!

Agreed!

I would get dizzy spinning around in circles like that

Back from mailing my old license plates back to the DMV in Connecticut.  I should have taken care of that long ago, but it's off the list now.

You actually had to return the license plates??  I've never heard of that.

The only way they'll cancel your old registration (and hence stop the property taxes) is if you turn in the old plates.

That makes sense, I guess.  I've never moved out of state...at least, not since I started driving or paying property taxes.

your car registration is linked to your property taxes?  I don;t understand how that works. What if you don't own property?

A car is property.  Not as in real estate but it is property

Had great fun at the baseball game tonight.  X's won 2-1 in the 9th inning.  There was a double steal and a very exciting run to win the game.  What fun

I got a free shirt.  They throw them into the crowd.  A friend and I grabbed it at the same time.  I offered to let him have it, but he gave it to me  :)

Tomorrow morning very early my neighbor's "high end" yard sale starts.  They have apparently advertised it all over and people may come from miles and miles away.  I took over a number of things - some nice, a few just stuff.  Mostly big stuff like an oak table, big antique mirror etc.  I don't have to go over for it, but I think I'll set the alarm for 6:00 and see what's happening.  They actually expect people by 5:00 AM! How crazy is that.

After the sale I may go to the office, or I may take the day off and just work on Sunday.   Saturday night they are giving away baseball caps to the first 500 people at the game, so I'll likely go.  I also have a ticket for Sunday night.  It should be a good weekend.
