Finished with my viewing and listening to the next Ormandy disc in the set I'm going through. I have heard several versions of the Shostakovich fifth, but none has "gotten" to me like this later Ormandy version recorded in 1975, I think. Whatever recordist problems they had on whatever other RCA Ormandy from the 70s, it is not in evidence on this recording which is clear as a bell and brilliant. But what a performance and what music.
