Larry, did you check if you have the right to a one-time no-questions-asked deferral?  (In case you actually get on a trial, the shlep downtown is much more pleasant in the fall than the summer.)

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We have attended church with Rob and Mary Linda, had lunch at Panera, and shopped at Target.  Richard and Rob are now in the basement assembling another set of shelves for storage of stuff they don't need upstairs.  Mary Linda's painting and unpacking and I'm doing AAUW work.

Today, I've been home doing not much of anything.  I did a load of laundry and watched the Chris O'Donnell episode from last season's "Who Do You Think You Are?"  Now, I have to take a shower and go to my parents' house for visiting and eating and game playing time.  My sister and niece will be there.  I don't know if my sister's boyfriend will be there.  He just had a pacemaker installed last week. :o He's doing much better now, so that's good.

I was on FB earlier and came across this article:  Good News: IRS Agrees To Monitor Religious Groups For Political Campaigning.

We'll see how it all plays out.

DR Vixmom your African meal sounds interesting.  Except for the spicy part I would gladly try the veggie dishes.

Wouldn't have simply been easier for the Vixter to fly from Florida to Canada?

Consider this 3 week separation preparation for when you have an empty nest and enjoy your alone time with Vixdad.

I'm in the doghouse...

I think a cat would also like this dog house, especially if the steps were covered in carpet.

It must be laundry day as I also am doing a load.  Earlier we went for a short walk in the park and out for brunch with a stop at the market.  I'm getting low on my laundry detergent and 4 out of 5 markets in town do not carry it.  I hope the 5th market still does.

Driving into town we saw a helicopter collecting water from the lake.  In the past they have had buckets they scooped the water into.  This time they had what looked like a hose that dipped into the water while the helicopter hovered just above the lake.

I couldn't find a photo of the helicopter over the water.  This is what the copter looked like and I think that is the hose on the side-not sure.

We had expected the copter to go the direction we came from and all the way up the road to the big fire there.  Instead it went west but we couldn't see any smoke in the mountains there.

I'm listening to last night's BBC Proms broadcast of "Kiss Me Kate" with my friends Ben Davis as Fred Graham/Petruchio and John Wilson conducting.

A DC 10 Air Tanker has arrived to help out with the fires.

I haven't seen it fly over.
