THE DUNDERHEADS AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM
« on: August 05, 2014, 12:37:24 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of dunderheads and how to deal with them, and now it is time for you to post until the dunderheaded cows come home.

Hopefully, that's the end of the server problems!

Topic of the Day:  "Noises Off!" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."  I've never actually seen either of these, but I've been in them and had a blast.

I hope those count.

Is "Lend Me a Tenor" considered a farce?  It's been quite a long time since I've seen that, but I really enjoyed it.

Good morning, all! Physical therapy at 11:00 today. Until then, i will putter around the apartment and clean off my work table. I've got a small project to finish for the Moross estate and I think there will be some more editorial work coming in on some film scores in the near future.  Since I have no major work at the moment, i've decided to start a few projects of my own to keep myself occupied. One of them is the Rodgers & Hart flop Chee-Chee, which intrigues me.

DR George, I was never aware that Moross wrote a score for "The Adventures of Huckleberry Hound," but I really love his score for "Huckleberry Finn!" The suite from the film was one of my editorial jobs about three years ago.

Gretchen Cryer has a restaurant? I haven't seen her in about 8-9 years now, and I have this memory that she was either moving to LA to be closer to Jon or maybe she was just going west for a visit when I last saw her.

Please tell me we do not have MOVIE OF THE DAY and all this nonsense to dread every day now!  There are only so many whims of the day i care to be subject to.

I was not actually here all night. It's just that when I went to go to bed, HHW glitched and would not let me log out.

Posting this morning seems pretty sluggish.

I'm a little bit confused about the numbering system for the KRITZERLAND AT STERLING'S shows. If the just completed show was #48, then wouldn't the next one be #49? So the anniversary show would be October, not September?       :-\

TOD:

I love ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, but the production I saw in NY in the 1980s with Tony Roberts, Jean Stapleton and Abe Vigoda was just so-so.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I'm here until after lunch, but then will be E & T for the afternoon and evening.  AAUW Middletown is having a display table at National Night Out at the park not far from our home.

The orignal soundtrack to Moross' "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was released some years ago on the FSM label.  It is still for sale at the Screen Archives site.  Follow this link to see what's on the CD and to listen to samples in full stereo.

TOD - NOISES OFF on Broadway 30 years ago next month.  August of 1984 was awful for Richard and me because our fathers died less than a week apart.  After things settled down, we decided to take a long weekend in NYC and I called DR Elmore for theatre advice.  We agreed that I'd send him a check and he'd get tickets for SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and something else of his choosing.  He chose NOISES OFF  and it was just the silliness we needed after the August awfulness.
