And now, from the "How Was YOUR Day?" department:  Itch-scratching elephant terrifies occupants of car!

Vehicle is badly damaged, occupants shaken but unharmed in South African park:

Oh my and thanks for sharing this story :)   If I survived that I would want the photos.

That reminds me of an old joke

Q  what time is it when an elephant sits on your car?

A  Time to buy a new car!

While reading the reviews for today's free Nook book, actually a 78 page novella, one person said they read it in 4-5 hours.  I know I'm a fast reader but is anyone, without a disability, that slow?

Maybe he/she realllllly wants to savor it.

Well, my friend Margo and her friend Marsha and I are going to the movies tonight.  Two movies in one week...that's quite unusual for me.  We're going to see "Get On Up":

Quote
In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42's Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Boseman is joined in the drama by Viola Davis, Octavia  Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.

It got a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Enjoy the movie DR George.

We rented BAD WORDS with Jason Bateman.  I don't have high hopes.

A trailer for Lucky Stiff -- and they're not afraid to sing in it.

My boss found out today he's allergic to beef as well as mesquite, live oak and pecan, which are the woods we use to smoke beef. I think he's saying he's allergic to Texas.

Did he get bitten by the tick that causes a red meat allergy?

Who knows. But he's not happy. He was a big beef eater.

Thank you.

Had a really fun lunch, then picked up a few packages, one of which seems to be a book all about barbecue lovers and Texas, by some bloke named John G.

Wish I could send samples with each copy.

wait,   what?!  there are no samples?!!!

Merely photos. And scrap bones.

I want to see both the James Brown movie and The Hundred Foot Journey this weekend. It's supposed to be a rainy weekend, so I may do that

Hmm. It didn't look awful. But still, I think that's a show for a nice small theater.

Speaking of Der Brucer, has anyone heard anything?

Almost?

Thank you for the pats on the back from BK and ChowMein!

have no idea why this just popped into my head.

Here is a photo of Ethel Merman as Rose in Gypsy.

She is holding her dog Chow Mein. By the start of Act two he is no longer around.

In the song "Together Wherever They Go" Rose, Herbie & Louise sing

"Tomato sauce goes well with chow mien."

Now we know what happened to the dog.
