In my DVD player right now from Netflix (I'm actually watching it) is "Under the Skin," with Scarlett Johansson. It's quite...unusual. I don't think I care for it, but I'll finish it. She plays some kind of an extra-terrestrial alien. Here's the beginning of the full synopsis on IMDb:

A gothic horror story about alien predators who lure humans, through the suggestion of sex, into a secret lair where their skin is harvested so other aliens may move freely among the unsuspecting humans they hunt.

It's very stylized and there's very little dialogue. On Amazon.com, it got 121 five-star ratings, but 272 one-star ratings. I don't remember why I put it in my Netflix cue, but I did, so I'll watch it.

Had a nice time at the pool, had a nicer nap and then dinner at a nice place. I can't remember the name because it's dark in the room and Anthony is asleep.

I then continued reading "Represented by Audrey Wood" It's her autobiography.

She was a fascinating character. A friend was signed by her in 1980-81 just before AW had her incapacitating stroke.

Good morning, all! I would love to go back to bed this morning, but that will not happen snce i have t be at therapy by 9:15 or so My beloved therapist Morgan leaves the job today; I will miss her. She's not only the person I credit most for getting me back n my feet, but she's become a dear friend in the process, This will be a sad session.

After that, I will return here and deal with the laundry, see what fresh hell comes down the pike, and maybe get some work accomplished on the Moross project.

We had dinner at Creekside Restaurant and Bar in Brecksville, OH.

It's a nice place, reasonably priced but they serve large portions. Anthony couldn't finish his pot roast and since we don't have a fridge in our room he just had her take it away. I had a good "London" burger.

Friday morning greetings! Much coming and going in our family this weekend. Rob and Mary Linda are going to her parents' for a wedding (family friends). My sister, who's in NE Ohio now, will arrive in Middletown this afternoon to spend some time with Mom tomorrow. On Sunday, she and I head to Owensboro, KY, for some genealogy research into our father's side of the family. The kids will be back Sunday evening and Nancy and I will be back on Tuesday. This is not a Lima weekend for Fr. Richard, so he will stay home with the cat.

Good morning, all.

Had some wicked allergy sneezing last night, one of those spells that makes you wonder if you've got a cold instead, but I'm 99% sure I don't. I finally took a Benadryl and called it an early night. But I'd left windows open and the house was freezing when I got up. Yes, you read that correctly. On August 15th, the house was freezing when I got up. Had to run the furnace for ten minutes to take the chill off. Oy!

Watched TOUCH OF EVIL. I know I'm late to the party, but this is the first time I've watched the entire reconstructed Welles version, and it's a revelation. I always had a fondness for the Mancini-scored opening and the visual style of the main titles, but it's so much more intense without all of that. The film as a whole is more powerful. I'm sold, and would probably never go back to the earlier cuts.

Tonight a couple of friends are coming over to see THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON in 3D. We're going to have to run it a couple of times, because thanks to the extraordinarily shoddy design of these Panasonic active-shutter glasses, I'm down to two pair that don't have broken frames. I might be able to fix one with some very super super-glue if I can get to the store this morning. I look forward to this myself, because I'd only ever looked at a few scenes when the Blu-ray came out.

I had a few pairs of Hush Puppies (shoes, not slippers) back in the day. The first pair or two were very comfortable, probably in comparison to anything else I'd had, but when I tried some in later years, I found them not very comfortable at all. Maybe they had different styles and I wasn't paying attention.

I don't think I ever had their slippers. But I've tried various kinds of slippers over the years, never sticking with one type. I've worn through whatever this latest pair is and really need to do some slipper shopping sometime soon for something comfy during the cold season*.

*Note I said "cold season". I didn't want to type that other word.
