Good morning and happy Friday, all.

Vibes for Elmore, Mike, Cillaliz, Vixmom and everyone else in need or want. Grab away. This time, the dream's on me.

Thanks for the tip, DR John G!  I have had barbecue in Owensboro - 40 years ago- but I don't know if it was mutton.

Good morning. Very humid on the mountain this morning. But it was so nice to have had some rain!

DR Laura, when Mom lived in Phoenix she used to call and complain when it got muggy - 12% humidity.

I know I had a pair of Hush Puppies (or two) over the years.

The shoe I really wanted, but could never find in my size, was a nice pair of Bass Weejuns!

These are also called "hush puppies." Especially if you are from the south. But you don't wear them on your feet - on the outside of them, anyway.

Hush Puppies

2/3 cup corn meal (self-rising)
1/3 cup plain flour
onion, diced (to your taste)
1 egg
Mix with milk to make a stiff batter.
Just before cooking in hot oil (enough to cover each hush puppy you put into it), add
1 teaspoon of baking powder to your batter and thoroughly mix.

You can form the hush puppies as you wish -- little ball, small wiener- shaped rolls or drop by teaspoon and let it form itself.

Cook until golden brown (depends on temperature of your oil).

And I am home from therapy. I got teary but i did not burst into tears or throw myself on the floor and beg her not to leave me, as I did in 1985 with my shrink.

I will now start the laundry and then get on to the Moross work. I need to submit an invoice but I need to finish the work first.

DR GEORGE I think that MR BK wrote about UNDER THE SKIN a few weeks ago.

THAT'S why I put it in my Netflix cue.  Well, I didn't hate it, and it kind of held my interest.  I think I just wanted a little more explanation.  I wonder if it assumes that people have read the book and know what's really going on.  It was originally published in 2000, but the library reordered it just this past March...probably because the movie was being released on DVD (we bought 10 DVDs and there are 50 holds).  I "recommended" the OverDrive e-book, so that I can download it to my Kindle and find out what's really going on. ;)

And speaking of Snopes...I'm sure someone was, somewhere in the world. ;) A FB friend posted a picture there, and I clicked on it, and then clicked through other pictures, and eventually came to this:

Hope your jaw stops hurting soon Sing!

Wow, I guess I am a freak about pain. I've had extractions and root canals and the like and as long as I'm full of Novocaine I don't have a problem during or when the drug wears off.

We are settled in our nice hotel in Brighton, MI (it's about 20 minutes from Ann Arbor, due north). It's a nice place with free breakfast, a pool, a workout room and this one is in walking distance of Target, Home Depot, Chili's and IHop. We just got back from lunch at Ihop. We went there in honor of Vixmom. We both had crepes. Anthony had Crepes Florentine and I had Crepes with grilled chicken, bacon and white cheddar. They were both good though Anthony thinks the water tastes almost like well water. I don't know if younger people know what "well water" tastes like. It's a distinctive taste that I haven't tasted for decades! He asked for some lemon to put in the water and he said that helped. I didn't have water, I had coffee (I know, it's made with water but the coffee flavor overwhelms the well water flavor).

Anthony is taking a nap right now and I may quit the laptop and take a nap also. Most of the relatives (we're here for a reunion) are going to a baseball game tonight (The Detroit Tigers vs. some other team, I don't have a clue which one) and we're NOT going as you could probably tell from the aside. We have no interest in BB so we will hang out at the hotel and greet one of my sisters and a niece when they arrive from the airport.

The big festivities are tomorrow. According to the weather bug it's supposed to rain with lightning and thunder. There will be an outdoor canopy but if it does get bad I guess we will end up in the house.

We will stay on Sunday as well and head back to New York on Monday morning.
