BK, have you heard anything on whether you will be a guest at the Celebrities Show in September?

Two of my friends who would like to be guests are having a heck of a time getting any info from the guy running it...and he is evidently not paying for the celebrity guest's hotel rooms, as he used to do in the past (not that that would matter for you, since you live right there).

Haven't heard back from Ray yet, and I have to make certain the date doesn't conflict with the Bewitched fan weekend, which I'm definitely doing.

Had some poached eggs, white toast and a bit of white rice, bought some 7-Up, picked up a couple of packages and am home.

We are back in New York City. We had easy and safe travel until we got off the GW Bridge. There was an accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway in the 60s and it backed up traffic for miles. We got slowed up in the 160s and barely moved for 45 minutes. We passed the damaged vehicle and the truck. It looks like the car hit the truck from behind. We didn't see any ambulances or injured people at that point so I assume they were whisked away. The car looked pretty badly damaged.

We ran some errands when we got home and then took a load of laundry to the laundromat. Anthony is there now. We will head out to LI tomorrow for the rest of our vacation.

A good time was had by all in Michigan though I don't know that I want to take another long car trip for quite a while. Staying in the Holiday Inn Express was nice (pools in every one) but it's nice to be home (though I have to go back to work on Monday the 25th).

Just saw a locked thread over to the Film Score Message Monthly board (that's how I think of it).

In it, our Bruce Kimmel was being manipulated in the worst possible way.

He handled himself well, naturally.   But some folks are just way too wacko to post on public forums.

Glad I didn't see it before it was locked, actually.  I was seeing red for a while.

Fortunately, DR elmore, I know the truth about your lost youth!  Mr. Barnum told me all about the ageing portait on the fire escape.  The Idina Menzel green make-up is not helping.

Rumors of that portrait are lies, I tell you! Lies!

I'm wondering if our DR MBarnum has seen "The Portrait of Dorian Gray".

Am also wondering where in tarnation everyone has gotten to.  It's nearly 3 p.m. and we're still firmly entrenched on page 3.

Tonight I get to go to rehearsal....Act Three of The Man Who Came to Dinner.....or as I like to call it - Banjo Saves the Day.

Do you get to sing that song Jimmy Durante sang in the movie?

Perhaps you could rent a camper and do a hook-up somewhere with all three of you enjoying the event.

Well, we shall see what happens.

Part of me doesn't really want to go because of the expense (when I had credit cards it didn't seem so bad...it was like it was all free! LOL! But now that I have to actually use cash money that I have saved...well...) and because the line-up so far for the celebrity event is not that great...Piper Laurie, Kathryn Helmond, Chris Noel, Dolly Read, Andrew Stevens, Jimmie Rodgers...them I would enjoy meeting, but most of the rest are soap performers and/or straight-to-video slasher/horror film types that I have never heard of.

On the other hand, I do LOVE visiting and toodling around Los Angeles and seeing sights and visiting friends (those that are still alive), and of course lunching with BK.

And for DR John G.'s further reading pleasure:

Brisket is Worth the Wait
"Brisket, part of the Texas Trinity of barbecue, has been enthusiastically embraced by New Yorkers..."

Thank you. I now have to go out and get some 'cue.

Good finds, DR Ginny...both genealogical and Vera Bradley!

Ditto, though I can't imagine buying that many purses at once.  I might get a new one every few years or longer.

LOL, DR Jane!  We didn't buy all that yesterday, just what's in the orange shopping bags.  The other items are the purses and travel bags we'd used for our trip.

All I bought yesterday were some stationery items, mostly to donate to AAUW's holiday bazaar.

LOL. Thank goodness!

Keith put some nice photos on FB.  If some kind DR will transfer them to here everyone can see what I've been doing for exercise and fun.

Ron, I don't know why it took me forever to realize it - but as someone pointed out, Kim Tong is clearly Erik Donovan.  I should have known it right away when he started trolling in every one of our threads till David Sones told him he'd be banned if he didn't stop.  But that never stopped him from always referencing us in just about every post.  Sometimes I just want to think better of people, but now that it's been pointed out of course it makes complete sense.  Someone even said he'd worded one post EXACTLY as he'd worded a post he'd done as Erik Donovan (which probably isn't his real name either).  People.  And to lie about the father having cancer.  That is one sick individual who will get eaten alive by karma.

Well, I must be off.  I'm going to stop at my parents' house before I go to the theater.  Today is my dad's 76th birthday!  I bought him a book that I think (hope) he'll like, and doesn't already have.  I just can't stay too long, though.  Tomorrow, my parents leave for Spokane for a wedding of a kid (probably my age or so) of one of their friends from when we lived in Germany, more than 40 years ago.  They've kept in contact all this time. :)

Be back later!
