The lab work this morning was NOT a pleasant experience. I have to have my blood drawn every month, and usually it is not a big deal. But this morning, the lab technician could not get any blood. I guess I am now a zombie.
He inserted the needle about 12 different times in many different places before he could get a sample. Painful! I now have bandages all over.      :P

Well I hope he at least gave you cartoon character band aids

Thank y'all for vibes for the cat.  Blood work results are excellent -- just a little high on the kidney enzymes, a change that's practically unheard of, considering she was at death's door on November 30th last year.  The administering of fluids will continue at twice per week, and we'll check those enzymes every three months or so.

Normal for cats:  2.4
Dec. 1st reading:  13.0, which indicates:  dead cat
Yesterday's reading:  3.7

The way of cats remains a mystery.

When Callie first got sick they told me I should consider putting her to sleep.   Instead I got a new vet, that was over 10 1/2 years ago

DR John, both books were Oprah pics:

Announced June 18, 1998
"It's not just a book, it's a life experience," trumpeted Oprah about her selection, I Know This Much Is True. Faithful readers familiar with her phenomenally successful book club read Wally Lamb's stunning debut novel, She's Come Undone, back in February, 1997.

I thought a lot of Oprah's selections back then were "victim books."

I agree.  They pretty much all were and my book club read them all

Back from the State Fair. It was a gorgeous day to go, and the experience was overwhelming. I would not want to go on a hot/humid day or on a weekend, as I don't particularly like crowds.

But gosh, it was amazing! More than you could ever see/do/eat. I toured all the livestock areas and arenas, walked through the midway, took the gondola ride from one end of the grounds to the other and back, looked through the agriculture and fine arts exhibit halls, and people-watched.
You could really spend days and still not experience it all. I am very glad that I went! The food choices were just about infinite, but I managed to resist them all.

So I came across this photo of DR MBarnum's last New Year's Eve party and I am shocked, I tell you, absolutely shocked.

I am not shocked so much as embarrassed...at how badly that my rug clashes with my wall paper!

He must be related to the girl who drew blood from Grace Adler in the "Will and Grace" episode when Karen thought Stanley had suffered a heart attack (he hadn't).  That nurse wannabe was high-larious.

Thanks, DR Jane - and all you DRs! Alas, you don't get told which technician you will get when you make the appointment.

I once had three technicians trying to find a vein at the HMO's 22nd street office. It was ridiculous. I had Larry, Curly and Moe all failing. I was not amused.
