DR Kate and her DH are on their way to his mother's 90th birthday celebration and I'm waiting for my brother to pick me up for dinner with our other brother and his wife.

Rob and I have returned from a mission.  My sister-in-law Jayne put us in touch with a needy family who took some of our surplus furniture before the kids moved in.  Today we took them some more and we finally have our living room back (more or less...)

Good morning, all! I slept well until 4:30, then lay wide awake for some time pondering the whereabouts of all the Jerome Kern scores of mine that I have been unable to locate in the office. I suspect they got sent to the Library of Congress with the McGlinnventory and i will never get them back.  That bothers me.

So, this morning our DR ChasSmith is kindly driving into Manhattan, and we will meet Anthony (and perhaps DR Ben, too) at Toyland, cart down the boxes of my possessions to the street and drive them uptown to my apartment. More clutter. I can then, in the next month, carry home books and things still sitting ton the shelves, but I'm grateful that the heavy part will be finished.

Tomorrow, I recover.

I'm glad you have tomorrow set aside to recover, and very grateful you have wonderful helpers.

Vibes the Jerome Kern scores are returned to you!!!

The next time I piss and moan about my life, I need to be reminded that, if i'm not so lucky in some areas of my existence, I am blessed with wonderful friends.  The move went really swiftly and easily.  As I'd hoped, Manhattan is quiet and rather deserted this morning. DR ChasSmith picked me up around 9:15 at my apartment, we were at Toyland by 9:45 and DR Ben and Anthony were there waiting for us.

Anthony had the idea to use the desk chairs on wheels to cart the 11 or 12 cartons out to the elevator, and it went really quickly. The doorman was upset with me for not asking him to use the freight elevator, but I think we resolved it, and we loaded up Charles' car.

He was very fortunate with parking spaces both at Toyland and on my block. Anthony generously volunteered to ride up with us, and we got everything into the building, up the elevator, and stacked in the hall outside my door. After a brief visit, Charles drove Anthony back downtown and I rode along for the fun of it.  As Charles headed back up to theGeorge Washington Bridge, he dropped me off, I came in, brought the cartons into the apartment and stored them, and the biggest part of the Toyland evacuation is over.  Thank you, gentlemen!

I could not have done any of this without their help.

You mustn't forget to take the freight elevator when moving-lol.  At my father's condo they didn't have one and I had to pad the entire elevator before putting furniture in it.

More than just having wonderful friends, you are lucky to have them close to home.

Good morning. It was busy on the mountain today. A woman I have met there and hiked with occasionally helped a 20-year-old. She had never hiked before and had no water and was feeling sick. I wondered how she felt seeing us old gals doing just fine?

LOL  Foolish I'm sure and next time she will take water.

Has anyone ever lost a contact and now know if it is in your eye or not?

Yes!  One time, it took me almost an hour before I could first of all, confirm that it really was there, and then actually get it out.  Fortunately, it only happened once or twice, and it's been quite a while since it's happened.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I still haven't confirmed if this is still in my eye or not. :-\
I think it would hurt if it is still there.

Yes here, too. I have a terrible time putting anything into my eyes. It doesn't seem natural or appropriate. When I tried to wear contacts I could get the damn thing in my eye, but NOT where it should be. It'd slip off to the side and I'd have to futz and futz to even tell if it was there and, if so, get it to where it should be. Enough of that! Glasses are just easier.

I've had those problems and mostly wear my contacts when I go out for special occasions or when we travel.  Once in, or out, I enjoy the freedom of not wearing glasses but I see better with them.

From DR Cilla:
Quote
I don't think it's a fair process when the law partner of one of the candidates chosen is on the commission and doesn't see it as a conflict.

I'm sure you aren't the only candidate who feels this way.  I'm surprised it is even permitted.

I thought about making a big deal about it, but it's just not worth it. It is what it is

It wouldn't make a difference and you would be the one to look bad.  Moving forward get yourself elected to change committee rules ;)

I like when I can do that vs just donating to a charity, which reminds me I need to call Habitat for Humanity.

DR JANE.....about your question the other day....this is a good groomer, and this is the first time she had to cut Precious so short.  Precious is only out for a few minutes a day....and even on our walks in the morning, she is only out for a couple of minutes.

I lost a contact lens in my eye once.....but it was back in 1982, and it was a HARD lens.  It was in back of my eye, and I could not feel it at all.  The eyeball itself has no nerve endings - is my understanding....the eyelids do, which lets us know we have something in our eyes.

I added some music to the slideshow that I wanted to post on BOOKFACE, and it was rejected because of copyright infringement....so I will have to load it with NO music under it.

HOW do all of these OTHER videos with music get posted with no problems?  I don't get it.

Cillaliz, what do you make of this? The house has been remodeled and sold back in 2009. Can the homeowners be forced to allow her inside?

LOL, now I'm nervous the contact is still in there.

I guess I'm just anti-clipping/shaving dogs.  It takes away the protective coat to keep them cool.  At least she isn't out long enough to get sunburned.  Why does she need to be clipped so short?   Won't she let you comb her at home?  Have you tried a detangler?

I feel bad for the family living there, especially if they have children.

Then after family portraits were taken, the Vixfamily three went to the Tim Horton's across the street from the park for toffee flavored coffee for vixdad and for me and hot chocolate for the Vixter
