The other day I viewed, for the first time, MEET ME IN LAS VEGAS starring Dan Dailey and Cyd Charisse...I always forget how wonderful both actors are.

This is one 1950s musical I had not seen before, and I am sorry I had missed it. Lovely film. The picture quality wasn't as clear as I would have liked, but still, it was quite pretty!
fun movie. I really enjoyed the feel of it. Relaxed.

DR Jane, that shot was taken in Maine.      :)

Thanks.  It looks photo shopped, a shame too as Maine is incredibly beautiful.

The area in Pennsylvania we lived in had a great amount of undeveloped land at the time.  Joan Rivers wanted to come in and build a very ritzy, private neighborhood of condos and houses.  When people objected she became rather rude about it.  To make matters worse her lawyer did an interview and talked about how the class of people who would live in this private development would be far above us locals and a great improvement.  You can imagine this did not bide well with the locals.

Well, Dear Readers, I will tell you that our Act One....which is actually the book Act One (Two Scenes) and half of Act Two....will run about 119 minutes....  This of course means that with a regular intermission, our play will run until about 11:08 p.m.

That is, of course, assuming that people will come back to their seats for Act Two....since it will be after 10 p.m. when intermission happens.

SO - fewer people will see me in Act Two....than will have seen Act One.  They won't even know I was in the show!

DR JRand64, as one who appeared in the worst community theatre production of a comedy ever, Auntie Mame, sometimes being a standout in what may be a turkey is cold comfort. I keep hoping no one will ever remember that I was in that piece of garbage, but DR Ginny keeps bringing it up!  I have no doubt you will be one of the few bright spots in a slow production.

And I think I am

Thought this was the worst Altman movie I had ever seen the first time I saw this. Second time, 20 years later, it was an enjoyable shaggy dog of a movie.

TCB, in answer to your question from yesterday: Yes, my mother made a tuna casserole with rice, walnuts, sweet peas, lima beans, celery and green beans all held together by lime jello.

It was so disgusting that I later won a dinner for four in an essay contest on "The Worst Dish My Mother Ever Made."

Really, that one belongs in a book.

And I am really disappointed to find that Las Vegas doesn't look like that any longer, at least from what people tell me. :(
