THE TWO-SHOW DAY

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a two-notes day, and now it is time for you to post until the two-show cows come home.

Today will be the final performance of Theater Artists Olympia's third annual one-act festival, "An Improbable Peck of Plays 3D."  We'll have strike after the show, but it won't take long at all...we only have to clean up the theater because there's no set to speak of, just a few blocks. :)

As well as being up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep.  I think it's contagious.

I did find out that my mother and her sister (my aunt) will be coming out from New Jersey to visit us next weekend for my birthday, which was an unexpected but very welcome surprise!

The weather has, indeed, changed for the better. It is currently 66 degrees. Cool and crisp and sunny. I hope it's the same on Long Island for Dear Deb and her church.

Not being a terribly religious person I didn't know that churches had annual "kick-off" days much like the first day of school. I think the last time I was in a church (other than as a tourist in Europe) was in 2000 for my sister's wedding.

I'm like Ben in that regard, and was also unaware of church "kick-off" days.  I don't remember them from any of the ones I grew up in.

Well, today's another all-afternoon rehearsal, so I shall be scarce till this evening.

I'd sure like to grab a little more sleep sometime in the next couple of hours.  Oh yes, I would.

Good morning, all! I slept later than I had intended: one strange dream involving a friend I've not seen since the mid-1980s and a Cincinnati friend and I going to the theatre, and another dream with my mother; something about my losing the house keys. I woke up from that one feeling rather melancholic.

I am ambivalent about making the trek to Toyland this morning, so I may hold off until Tuesday. I'm currently rather aimless.

DR vixmom, I loved the photo. You look fantastic.

Churches don't like to talk about it, but attendance and activity really do fall off severely over the summer months.

"Kick-Off" or "Rally" Sundays signal the start of the new program year. Church schools and choirs start up again, etc., etc.

DR elmore3003 reminded me that I, too, enjoyed DR vixmom's photographic evidence of her vacation.      :)

Dreams.  OMG.  I'd momentarily forgotten, but this was a night when many of my common, repetitive dream themes were pulled off the shelf and played with gusto.  But I also created some very interesting places and spaces to work these out in, so there was at least something interesting about them in addition to the usual irritation.  Amazing.
