I am head of social ministry and  my church and I have has a collection going all summer for items to put together kits for our  fall mission trip  (I call it Socks and Sandwiches)

We collected  toothbrushes with cases, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, socks, deodorant, combs, shampoo,  baseball caps, and individually wrapped hard candies

What a great idea and cause!  :D

Is Hulu a paid service?

Hulu is a free service; however, they have a more premium service called Hulu Plus.  I cut the cord on my cable connection last year and signed up for Hulu Plus and Netflix.  Wasn't using Netflix, so pulled the plug on that as well.  I miss a few shows from the Food Network and TLC, but have been to busy to miss it.  Oh, BTW, I do have the free local (network) channels.  Crazy thing, once I pulled the cable connection -- I now have free access to new PBS channels I had never heard of.  I love CreateTV -- the best of PBS: travel, arts & crafts, cooking, etc.

Good Night!  I sure know how to empty a room.  I should get some shut eye myself -- 6am wake up comes around all too quickly!

Back from evening one of comping - did seven of the fifteen songs, and we'll finish up on Monday next.  What I heard of the first pass of the mixes sounded very good.  But poor John doesn't have anything but one window unit air conditioner so it was REALLY hot in his place.

Went to a restaurant tonight for Diez y seis de Septiembre. I ordered street tacos, one each of chicken, beef and pork. The chicken and beef stank. Badly. So, we tried to tell the owner. He shot back with this very condescending tone that the food was fresh. That only made matters worse. My friend Bonnie got into an argument with the guy about the way he was treating us, and it all ended badly. We ended up paying for the horrible mess.

I'll never go back, needless to say.

Yikes!  That definitely would prevent me from EVER going back to any restaurant.  Spread the word!

Paul and I went to the new restaurant at the Hard Rock Casino.  It's really nice.
Food was great. Paul and I had fun.  Just talked and laughed and enjoyed the evening.  It was just what I needed

Glad you had a good dining experience, Cillaliz!

did anyone DVR  the Tonight show last night?  I missed it

It's on Comcast's OnDemand, but I did record it and make my own DVD of the episode.  Otherwise, the whole episode is available on Hulu here:  http://www.hulu.com/watch/687470 (as BwayAnge said).

I don't know for how long, though.

Topic of the Day:

We've had this topic before and this is what I what I wrote (it's easier to search and quote than Try To Remember [a Fantasticks reference ;) ):

Quote
Topic of the Day:  I've only been through a couple of earthquakes and a really bad ice storm.  The ice storm was kind of cool.  Trees frozen solid, covered in a layer of ice.  It was beautiful and dangerous at the same time.  Some of the trees broke and brought down the power lines.  I think that that was the longest that I was without power...five days, I think.
