Sincere birthday wishes to the spirit of Mr. John McGlinn.

I will listen to something attentively and appreciatively this weekend.

Finally found a picture of a Banjo older than me.

Doesn't the old song go,  "...and a Banjo on my knee..." ??

Seems to me that they have it the other way 'round!       :)

There's one photo somewhere from the second production I did.  I thought it might be on the computer but I can't find it.

TOD:

I feasted on Godzilla movies, and the like when I was a child. Still love 'em. Never thought they were stupid. Well, maybe some of the later ones were kind of silly.

The first Godzilla/Gojira is an amazing film, with an excellent message

Godzilla Vs. The Thing

Son of Godzilla

There are a smattering of Godzilla films from the 80s and 90s that I have not yet seen. Terror of Mecha-Godzilla I have never been able to get through.

Walmart has (or had) a ton of Godzilla DVDs and  Blu-Rays on a special rack for $5, $6, and $7 dollars...so I picked up a few of those I have not yet seen.

TOD Part 2:

Other Kaiju film favorites:

All three of the Daimajin movies are excellent, and so beautifully photographed

Rodan

Mothra

King Kong Escapes

Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster (which is technically a Godzilla film)

I enjoyed the new Godzilla film. It was great fun to watch at the theatre up on the big screen. It was worth the price of admission. That said, it is not probably one I would bother to watch again.

The only part of the movie that bothered me was at the end when Godzilla has saved mankind and is crashing his way through the city, heading back out to sea. All the humans characters are happy, and thankful and wishing Godzilla well...but I couldn't help but think of all the people he was crushing and killing as he smashed through those buildings, streets, etc to return to the sea! LOL!

I also was disappointed that the scene(s) with Akira Takarada (the star of the first Godzilla film) were cut out of the final release.  :(

Today would be John McGlinn’s 61st birthday.  He was a difficult man with much potential and too many personal demons.

Listen to one of his recordings and wish him well.

I have "Songs of New York" here at work. :)

Just back from a lunch trip to the Costco near the office. Seems they've sold out of "Barbecue Lover's Texas." Wonder what's happened with it at the other two stores.

Back from some lunch - cup of creamy tomato soup and a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich - and then picked up a couple of packages and did some banking.  I'm home now until I leave for the Bewitched event.

On this date in 1925, DEAREST ENEMY opened on Broadway, and Rodgers & Hart were no longer unknowns.

Strange day here, but I did manage to win a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant. It's because I don't eat out often enough.

I remember when I was a kid (elementary school age) and having seen the Raymond Burr "Godzilla" on TV and enjoying being scared by it.  I also remember seeing a commercial for (or maybe I just heard about) "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" and being excited to see it, but I never did see it.  I don't know why...and I still haven't seen it.  Maybe I'll have to rectify that situation. :)
