That's a fun one to say.  Like Okoboji.     :)

Good morning, all!

I slept rather well. I was having a long, involved dream about a revival if a show I had staged in 1976 of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, which was going to Europe, perhaps under the sponsorship of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus since there were a lot of Chorus members in the dream, along with DR Ginny, Richard, Robert Kimball, and  Darrel Brown, who played the title role. There were also rehearsals for The Beggar's Opera, and it's all very confused. I do remember that at one pointI said, "Is that London already?" and DR Ginny said, "we haven't reached Newark yet."

So, enough of dreams. I'm off to Toyland and hoping to be back by noon.

Today would be John McGlinn’s 61st birthday.  He was a difficult man with much potential and too many personal demons.

Listen to one of his recordings and wish him well.

TOD:

I have no favorite Japanese monster movie.

I think all of them are stupid.

They're not like intelligent American monster movies like THE DEADLY MANTIS, THE MOLE PEOPLE or THE MONOLITH MONSTERS.

Morning, all!

Don't think I've ever seen a Japanese monster movie that wasn't being heckled by the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew. My favorite was probably a Gamera one in which they threw in a couple of "Chorus Line" references.

...

DR Elmore, I hope I was along as your rehearsal assistant (Beggar's Opera) instead of Lucy, because I'm too old to be climbing up on that dog house!  We must have been flying from Dayton, because you have to go through Newark to get to London from there.

I guess that photo would count for Throwback Thursday!

Anyway, my plan for today is to go to Target for some household items and the new Barbra Streisand CD.  Tonight my book group meets at Lynne's to discuss Katrina Kittle's The Blessings of the Animals.  She's a Dayton author who is speaking at AAUW's book brunch on October 11.

MR BK is going to be busy this week....lots of fun things to do.

We had a great show last night, and three of my Achilles/Achilles Son actor-mates were in attendance with the director of said show....nice to see them again.  We had a short talk-back with them.  They are in acting-theatre classes at DePauw and had spent the last week studying the play and doing scenes from it, so it was interesting for them to see it onstage.

I felt the SAME way about the new Godzilla....where was HE?  And what were those dumb monsters that nobody knew anything about?

The original GODZILLA is a favorite....from multiple television viewings. I also like:

GODZILLA vs MECHGODZILLA 2
GODZILLA vs. KING GHIDORAH
GODZILLA & MOTHRA: THE BATTLE FOR EARTH
GODZILLA vs BIOLLANTE
and many more of the 1980's/1990's films.

MOTHRA is my favorite other kaiju.

I also like the DAIMAGIN series....about a giant stone statue that comes to life and battles various villains and villagers.

I got seven hours of sleep - would have gotten more if the damn phone hadn't run at nine-thirty - not a person but a phonebot - not that I answered.
